Sears Suburban Axle seal and fluid change , SS14 garden tractor.. I noticed a axle seal was leaking really bad on the SS14 sears suburban that i just picked up. Usually the 30w oil in them is contaminated by water so i changed it too. The axle seal on the sears suburban is really a easy job. . I used 30 weight motor oil , non detergent to refill , as the sears suburban owners manual called for 5 qts of it . Also need to check the axle has no up and down or sideways movement , to be sure the new axle seal wil fix your sears suburban . Garden tractor repair. WTBM123

@@wtbm123 I am a little bit rough on mine as I use it as a garden tractor. I now have a wheel bearing noise. I am guessing the housing has to be opened up to fix that ?

@@johnchadwicktilton probably . I believe there is a bushing where the axles come out . i believe can get a seal kit on ebay . . i believe the internal bearings are still available

A few years ago I changed the trans axle in my snow blower tractor Suburban 16/6...what a big job!

For the most part easy to work on , a few places they could of given another 1/4 inch or so . lol

A guy in another KZbin video pulled his tractor up on its side and took the plug and elbow right out. Then he used an ATF funnel and poured the 30W oil right in without spilling a drop. Saved lots of time and spilling.

You can do that , I jack the fill side uo a bit more now and it still a bit slow but much better . Thanks for watching and commenting

The PVC pipe is a good idea. Not so harsh as a metal pipe. But you got it done anyway, good deal.

Oil is cheap so fill it to the top. Does not hurt the transmission

Well thats all happy now :-D That small seal looked like a pig to remove, the hook looked good, but it has to be a really good one. If you were worried about damaging the seal on the edges of the key slot, perhaps filling it with crap body filler would make it safe, slide the seal over it, then rip the filler out with a straight screwdriver. Yes i have evil thoughts LOL :-D

yes same seal . the gasket may still be available at sears parts direct I believe the sears part number for gasket is 6275H , think new number is 532121878 .

5 quarts of sae 30w non-detergent oil. And the higher you lift the fill side the faster the oil goes in

I had got it from Napa , 9838 , but any parts store should be able to cross reference that number .
