Enjoy a short trip to the California coast's Leo Carillo State Park, without getting your feet wet! Twice a day the tide moves out, exposing the rocks, plants and sea life that inhabit this shallow rocky beach. Among the wildlife you can see are Starfish, Sea Anemones, crabs, clams/muscles and seaweed in various colors. The fish are tiny and scarce, but if you're lucky you might run across a small Octopus or Sea Slug in the shallow, isolated pools.
The above-water footage was shot with a Canon HF100 HD camcorder, and a DXG 5B1V HD water-proof camera was used for the underwater views.
Audio recorded and mixed by Technician. Full artist discography, MP3 downloads and CDs are available at the Technician website: HTTP://technician.jcmd...

It's amazing how many Californians, who live not too far from these natural wonders, have never seen them either :-) Glad I could bring them to you here!

Great video, I used to scuba dive here the two years I lived in California. This was one of the calmest beaches to dive from. There was a nice kelp forest just off shore to dive in just out from the cliffs and life guard hut. Keep up the great work, awesome videos as always.

Okay - I'm not sure if ANY of you know this yet, but at 1:08, that's Sancastle Worms. They build sandcastle-like tubular homes, like honeycombs. Their saliva makes a glue-like stuff that is being used for reconstruction surgeries now. But those things are freaking horrific to accidentally step on. Horrible. Horrible horrible.

I did spend a lot of time tip-toeing around those pools, but I'm sure I missed plenty! I'm still getting to know the underwater camera's strengths and weaknesses. Next time out I hope to get into some deeper water where the camera can focus properly, perhaps with some artificial lighting for better color saturation too - underwater photography can be quite challenging! :-) Thanks so much for watching and the nice comment!

I can remember visiting a site along the Mississippi in Minesota where there were some rapids and mini-falls, which were nice to listen to as well, although not quite the same a ocean surf. Farther downstream I'd guess the river is just too big for falls though. Thanks for watching and listening! :-)

The above-water shots are from a Canon HF100. They go for $400-$500 online. I'm really quite impressed with the image quality and camera in general. This YT ver really doesn't do it justice - the image is SOOO much better in original 1080p AVCHD .MTS clip from the camera. One issue with many HD camcorders is that the AVCHD format is not so compatible with every application and the file itself is VERY CPU intensive to decode/playback, so you'll need a beefy PC to play/edit the footage. :-)
