Season 2 On The Way? - Moon Knight Episode 6 Breakdown & Review

We’re back to wrap up Moon Month Knight! The finale sees the culmination of the battle between Marc Spector, Steven Grant, Layla and Konshu up against Ethan Hawk and a giant crocodile. Plus we get a giant Egyptian kaiju battle over the pyramids and a post credits scene that finally introduces one Jake Lockley. But no purple laser and I am very upset about it. To be fair, in this case we know at least these henchmen were fanatical Ammit zealots who were totally onboard with using crocodile magic to kill millions of people and maybe themselves if necessary, but normally yeah that trope is a bit of an inconsistency.

Seriously it’s such a dumb trope, like they will kill a small cities worth of henchman just doing what their told to do, but then when they get to the big bad guy, who is literally the worst of the worst, they’re suddenly like “oh no killing people is bad I reckon, better not kill this mass murder guy” AND IT MAKES EVEN LESS SENESE BECAUSE UP UNTIL THIS PHASE EVERY MARVEL CHARACTER (with the exception of spider man) WAS COMPLETELY OKAY AND COOL WITH KILLING

I think this is confirmed. At the end, Harrow states that Khonshu “can’t hurt him”. I think this is to hammer home that the Gods can only act through avatars to affect the real world. So I doubt the average person can see a fight between two Gods.

Layla's suit is not hippo-based because she turns into the Scarlet Scarab (actual Marvel comics character who was the protector of Egypt during World War II). I guess this implies that when Taweret said she had ideas for the suit that she picked something based on Layla's childhood nickname rather than herself? It also implies that Khonshu is an asshole who doesn't give Marc a more varied wardrobe.

Also, while I do not recall Taweret being associated with scarabs in mythology, her character in the MCU apparently is, given her scarab symbol on her chest. I'm assuming they went for the scarlet scarab because making motifs relating to childbirth and fertility would be more difficult (unless they went with something more symbolic like regeneration or something of sorts).

Yes I think I that's definitely part of it. But there's also the whole character arc of Mark killing without consequences, which led to Layla's fathers death. Killing to balance the scales as you see fit is wrong. Killing in action with collateral damage is another thing. It's the same with Batman. I mean Moonknight was created as a Batman "ripoff" anyways lol

Okay so I can explain Layla’s shown powers and presumable powers that weren’t shown, yet. Her shown powers as you mentioned were very reminiscent of Sam Wilson’s powers. Most notably her retractable wings and her fighting style. I presume that what we didn’t see was that she also has powers nearly identical to Hope Van Dyne’s (Sting blasters, ability to shrink, etc.) think of her as a combination of Falcon and Wasp. Why, because Taweret is the Egyptian Goddess of Fertility and Childbirth so her Avatar’s powers must be based on “the birds and the bees.” Thank you thank you, I’ll be here all weekend. Layla is the Scarlet Scarab, costume is based off her fathers scarf, nickname he gave her(his little scarab) and she took the scarab compass that seems to be where the gold wings come from. Costume also has a lot of similarities to what Taweret wears. Also Khonshu is a dead bird but his logo for Moon Knight and powers have nothing to do with a bird

Khonshu is the god of the moon and the night. So Marcs costume being inspired by the moon makes sense. Taweret is the goddess of child birth and fertility so if anything Layla's costume should be inspired by that 😂

These shows start with distinct genres and tones but then they all end in rubbery chi people in costumes shooting lasers. 13:25 the psychiatric hospital is how Marc’s mind interpreted purgatory. I thought Taweret was pretty clear that everyone perceives it differently based on what’s familiar to the observer, and that a psych hospital was a first for her. Marc must have spent time in one, enough that that was the familiar setting texture pack his mind downloaded to play the Game of Afterlife.

A little detail I caught after watching this episode. “He has no idea how troubled he *really* is.” Implies that Konchu KNEW about Jake the whole time, maybe even before Marc knew. A little detail from the first episode that supports this claim is when Konchu says “Great the idiot’s in charge.” Not surprised that someone ELSE than Marc is in control, just annoyed that out of the 3 personalities he happened to get the ONE who’s not violent.

I mean He must do as it hints at him knowing there’s other personalities but also doesn’t make sense why he told him to give control back to Marc before knowing it was “the idiot” as it seems he prefers Jake and is the much more effective. I’m disappointed Harrow didn’t get a cool Egyptian outfit. Watching Ethan Hawke get pasted into a pavement and beaten the shit out of by literal gods kinda took me out of the scene. Great series overall though, looking forward to more.

i think its kinda dumb to give us another blackout off screen fight especially against the main villain in the season finale people have been waiting for Jake since episode 3 and a post credit just doesnt cut it . either show Jake during the fight or dont, why just elude to it so late in the show like its still some kind of mystery kinda lame.

Over all good show but a lot of weird contradictions. Like moon knight and Mr Knight are killing people left and right. Jake killed several workers at the ward. I can only guess they were on Konchus list.....my only explanation is Steve and Mark kill while as Konchu. Jake has no problem killing with out it. More like a Harrow. But yea the gun firing at the end was almost comical. I think they added that last minute. Like are we going to show him shoot on screen or not or just have the car drive way implying Harrows death.....I think the last episode would have benefited from being 5 to 10 minutes longer.

THEORY! Your idea about them putting in a frame of two guys in rubber suits into some, but not all, of people's versions of Moon Knight just to mess with people was correct. But! The cheeky occasional frame was of a big, purple laser shooting out from the top of a pyramid. Thus driving you mad because you know that you saw one once, but not upon re-viewing. =D

I think the right to left choice was made by the director because in Arabic you write from right to left. He said portraying Egypt the right way was important to him so it could have been a nod to that big part of the culture.

Watching this breakdown I just realised that Jake is probably Spanish as shown after the credits but that he's been impersonating Marc to fool Stephen and other people they both know! That would explain why a random Marc-esque character keeps appearing who seems more aggressive. This 'Marc' has a broader Bronx accent! At various points he's popped up acting crazier or killing when Marc would have been more lenient

Because of this channel I went into this episode keen to see a big purple laser shoot into the sky and then when it was over I thought to myself "was there a big purple laser shooting into the sky? I cannot remember," only to find out later that there was not a big purple laser shooting into the sky. I feel decieved. I don't know how I can ever trust Mr. @MrSundayMovies ever again after this.
