This is a yoga tutorial on a narrow legged seated forward fold - we go through pros that can be used, nifty ways to get into the pose and actions within the actual forward fold.

Hels, I really struggle with this pose as I am a bit front heavy in the chest and stomach and the idea of hugging my legs or lying on my legs just mentally and physically seems impossible. Are there any curvy tips?

Hey Denise! Of course, I totally should have mentioned this in the video 😊 So apologies! Here are a few things to try and see what feels best: 1. Take your legs wider (experiment with with what feels good in your body) , so as you come forward, there's more space for your upper body to move into.... 2. Use a strap around the feet and flex them, back nice and straight, this might give you a great stretch in the back of the legs, without even having to come forward too much.... i know this video is old but id love it if u could reply! im inflexible so i struggle with the seated forward fold a lot & am unable to sit in that position or even bend forward a little bit without it hurting. if i try these modifications for a few months, will it help me achieve the fold without needing the modifications anymore?

Manually moving your fleshbis actually huge. When I use weight machines in gym I have to pull the meat of my rightbbuttock and thigh out, otherwise I'm sitting too heavily on my left if that makes sense. I'm fully assymwtric in every sense in my body and I have to use manual movement and tweaks for everything

is it fine to keep trying at this if all i can do is literally the first thing with flexing my toes without it hurting lol. trying everything else besides that is really stiff

Hey Shinu! Absolutely, I would just check in with yourself each time to make sure you're not forcing or being unkind to yourself though :) A lovely alternative to this (you might like to try) is do this with your legs up the wall, so wriggle your sitting bones right up to the wall, as if you were sitting on it and relax your back to the floor.
