Hi Doc!! Thank you so much for all your videos. After cementing lower veneers, what are the patterns of dynamic & static occlusion we want to see on the veneers with the articulating paper ??

Read the above reply. Interestingly, I find that most dentists do not have a clue about occlusion, and I feel it is the most important part of dentistry. Take your practice to the Top Tier. i absolutely loved it! in this case why did the veneer break so easily?
@centerforard6 жыл бұрын
Cemented porcelain veneers are as strong as natural teeth. Veneers are a bit fragile, however, before they are cemented or during cementation, while they are being pressed to place on the teeth. I thought the veneer was completely seated on the tooth and I pressed firmly to express all the excess veneer luting composite. It actually was not quite seated so when I pressed firmly, it cracked. I have placed thousands of porcelain veneers and have only had this happen a couple of times. The good news is porcelain veneers are as strong as natural teeth once they are cemented and the veneer luting composite is cured!

thanks a lot sir , i have a question , you did not mention the way to prevent ( oxygen inhabited layer) , so did you believe that is not necessary, or just in 3m relyx luting as i told
@harhoor20067 жыл бұрын
thanks a lot sir .... i do this all the time .... i remove the excess ( half set ) with sharp curved blade
@centerforard4 жыл бұрын
I used to place glycerin over the composite to prevent the OIL, but have not done that in many years. The OIL is not a problem so long as you do not remove the excess composite before curing it, so there is a bulk of excess composite at the margins to inhibit the oxygen.

Hello doctor does the isopropyl alcohol damage the tooth side of the veneer after etching and priming ? Like will it remove the silane layer?
@centerforard8 ай бұрын
The alcohol does not damage the tooth or gingiva. I have never used silane. It is not needed for more than adequate bond strength and if not used correctly, it can be a contaminate. There are many technical articles supporting not using silane for veneers. Keep the procedures as simple with as minimal materials/additives as possible. When you make a procedure more complicated than it needs to be, the chances of a screw up increase. Take your practice to the Top Tier. Great vid doc as usual. One thing Ive been doing that helps get rid of the interproximal cement is put a knot in the middle of the floss. I dunno if you knew about this but it saves a few seconds. Anyways, nice video

I do that with Crown and Bridge cement removal.

i worried from 2 thing about flossing in the stage that cement or luting not fully cured : - i afraid that the veneer have mobility or even micro crack in the luting cement while flossing - i worried from any bleeding that may occur during flossing that may mixed with the cement that not fully cured and cause discoloration
@centerforard7 жыл бұрын
Don't worry! It is amazing how little light curing it takes to achieve initial setting of the composite luting cement. You are not pulling the veneer away from the tooth. The excess composite is being chipped off the margins with the direction of force along the margin of the veneer, not pulling the veneer away from the tooth, When you floss, pull the floss to the palatal or lingual once you have broken the contact between the adjacent veneers. As an experiment, squirt a small amount of veneer luting composite on the counter top and cure it for less than 1 second with a curing light. The piece will be rock hard curing that tiny amount of time. The issue is over curing if you leave the curing light on the teeth for more than a second, front and back. If you do, it will be more difficult to remove the excess cement. Bottom line, it is mandatory the luting composite have initial set before you remove it or you will have issues with sensitivity, gingival irritation, staining at the margin of the veneer and, possibly decay at the margin of the veneer.

It's a journey! Dentistry is a wonderful profession if you are fortunate enough to have a comprehensive practice. The part that makes dentistry so enjoyable to me is performing a comprehensive examination and formal consultation on each new patient once acute pain is resolved. I like systems and predictability. The comprehensive examination and consultation allows me to put together an excellent treatment plan, or plans, for each patient so the treatment is organized and both patient and Dr. understand where we are going with the overall treatment. I am not cut out for patch work treatment, seeing a high volume of patients. There is certainly a place in dentistry for high volume, "tooth ache" practices. My temperament is just not cut out for that practice type. I like low patient volume and everyone having a treatment plan. I se one sedated patient from 8 - 1 or 2 every morning followed by 2 - 5 smaller treatments each afternoon with a consultation or 2 most afternoons. I see patients from 8 - 6 Monday through Thursday. My staff is in the office Friday mornings, but I do not go in. We film "The Dental Minute" most Friday and Saturday mornings. Bx, the manager of the dental practice and CEO of CARD, my teaching center, is now "live streaming" our video sessions on Facebook. There were over 500 people watching us video last Friday! He is trying to work it out so those watching can ask questions following the sessions. The Internet is incredible!

What about applyiing monobond s ? ( silane)
@centerforard7 жыл бұрын
Silane is not necessary and, if not used correctly, can contaminate the bond.
@harhoor20067 жыл бұрын
monobond is not saline .... it is a bond from ivoclar for ceramic not for tooth i think
