I saw and photographed Class 50 locos hurrying through there in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Nowhere near as overgrown back then, and the station footbridge was still there then too. Great memories. 😊

That's something I'd have liked to see, class 50s going through. Tge station must've looked pretty good back in the day

Explored there about 14 years ago. There was no security fencing so we were able to access the platform and look through the windows into the station building. We also picked strawberries from what may have been the station garden.

I wish I'd gone there before the security fencing was there; would love to be able to walk along the old platform

Sections of the line have been re double tracked in recent years; part of me's thinking the whole line might eventually end up being double tracked.

There are no substantial villages/towns near enough to Seaton Junction- it was just the interchange for the Seaton branch, so its purpose disappeared with the branch’s closure. That has saved it from being turned into an industrial estate/housing/a supermarket site, and the regular service past it makes it less attractive as a dwelling.

I think it's a nice thing that the site hasn't been turned into a supermarket site or anything like that and thus lost forever. Would be nice to see something good done with the station but realistically there's not much that can be done with it unless the Seaton branch line is reinstated and I can't see that happening; I doubt there'd be enough demand to justify the cost etc.

……and half the branch is a heritage line! The station building might make a decent railway museum?
@westcountryexplorer15 күн бұрын
@@barnettiuk A railway museum could well be a good thing. Could possibly extend the tramline to Seaton Junction and connect it up to the mainline somehow; combine the tramline with a railway museum.

Glad you enjoyed it :) This was one of the few occasions when I could easily recall information whilst recording lol

I get like that I have all the information as soon as I am recording poof information gone head blank

@@Towpathdippers Annoying as heck when that happens. One thing I tend to do nowadays is have information written down in a note pad and then refer to it whilst recording.

I agree. It would be lovely to see the station brought back to some kind of use.

@@westcountryexplorer don't know if you've ever been to Kingscote Station on the bluebell railway, this one reminds me much of the one in the video and they've done an amazing job. Albeit it's part of the heritage railway but still, makes you wonder what can be achieved. Thanks for the video and just subscribed. 👍

@@CoxallK I've not been to Kingscote station yet. I plan to visit the Bluebell railway one day; when I do I'll have a look round Kingscote :) Thank you for subscribing :)
