Can we please stop building cookie cutter apartments/highrises made with the cheapest looking materials. These buildings will represent our city for generations and most of the buildings being made look so generic and uninspiring.

It is wild to me that we just keep slamming in these big housing units, but then invest nothing in infrastructure and act surprised when these towns choke on the influx of people. These planners need to play SimCity as a training exercise or something…

Instead of cramming multiple condos onto a lot that once held a single house or constructing poorly built multi-unit buildings that only software engineers can afford, consider implementing some form of rent control! Studio apartments shouldn’t cost over 2k a month!

We have a housing crisis and Seattle desperately needs to upzone more areas to maximize density and growth potential. For such a large city, Seattle has an extremely backwards and small town zoning philsophy, and NIMBYs have _way_ too much control over what does or doesn't get built. Look up to Vancouver to see what smart progressive upzoning and transit oriented development done right looks like! Now that's how a large modern city should do it.

Thank you for covering this important topic! Having read up on details and attended some of the meetings, it's pretty clear this seems like a move to get a political notch in their belt rather than a calculated decision in the best interest of the city. Basics like a traffic simulation for areas with chokepoints haven't been covered. Adding 10% to traffic doesn't make it 10% worse, it makes it *much* worse. These folks point to buses, but then drive away in their cars. I wouldn't blame them, but this meeting was in an area deemed "transit hub" in the rezoning plan. They should walk the walk.

1 - Remove the Affordable House Fee, which is now around $15 per sqft in Seattle when building a house and drives the price up. 2 - Change the zoning in all the city that are NR to MR or HR 3 - Speed up construction permits. And enjoy how the developing skyrockets and prices goes down as there are less taxes to build, more area to construct 5 over 1 and faster process for approvals 🏗🏬
