Dolphin drives in Taiji started long before SeaWorld was even thought of.

@shamurocks1395 Well as it says in the video, the slaughters started in a different place in Japan and were mostly fazed out, after seaworld and others contacted them they were started again at Taiji. Seaworld Do brag that none of their current dolphins come from taiji yet they forget the fact that they started the taiji slaughters.

Dolphins and Whales should not have been touched in the first place.

@hateseaworld They weren't created just to find the "perfect dolphin" as coined in The Cove. Yes, SeaWorld does have dolphins from Taiji, but they had the thought that they would be saving these dolphins, and now they realize that it wasn't the greatest idea ever. They don't support the drives, and were only trying to fulfill their duties as rescuers. Their captive breeding program is astounding compared to others, and they don't need to catch dolphins from the wild. It's a waste of their time.

@jukio02 SeaWorld doesn't buy dolphins. Either APHIS and the NOAA decide where the dolphins are moved to and SeaWorld breeds their dolphins. Why capture a wild dolphin that comes with liabilities and possible health issues, when they already have a fantastic success rate in their breeding programs? To get a dolphin from Taiji, SeaWorld would have to prove that the dolphin was captured in a humane way or was rescued, and that's just way too much trouble and bad publicity for them.

@hateseaworld I was just referring to your description of the video.

@shamurocks1395 Sorry but I dont believe that. I dont believe the executives from seaworld stood in the water surrounded by the blood of other dead dolphin, killed by fishermen they paid, choosing the best looking dolphins and thought "yeah, this will be good for our publicity. We are helping" yes seaworld breed a lot of dolphins - they have also killed more than anyone else.

@hateseaworld You sorta contradicted yourself right there. I haven't heard of SeaWorld slaughtering dolphins? Last I heard they had the most innovative and successful rescue and release program for marine mammals. Especially dolphins.

@coley4evr Did you even watch the video. It doesn't say that seaworld have any Taiji dolphins at the moment (I know they dont) it says they are responsible for the dolphin drives starting up again after they were phased out because it was their only source of false killer whales. and they have had more than 2 in the past- look it up.

Only 2 dolphins from Taiji have been sent to the states EVER. By the way, they did NOT go to Seaworld. Learn your facts.

@hateseaworld There are many dolphins in captivity that are well into their 30's 40's and one that is in her 50's. If their conditions are bad they wouldn't be breeding or living as long. Orcas are very sensitive to a lot of things, and many of the problems that orcas die of in captivity, animals such as dogs and cats, common pets, die of every day. They spend so little on rescue, yet they just released their 1000th sea turtle? There are plenty of sexually mature dolphins already for breeding.

@shamurocks1395 I meant very very few captive dolphins die of old age (according to the marine mammal database), and no orcas ever have. the company as a whole gives a very very little percentage of its proffits to rescue. They also get paid by the government for every mannatee they release so its not money out of their pocket. its also a good souce of free dolphins (at a time when they are desperate for new DNA for there stock) watch a video called ('seaworld fund a sham' for more info)
