I read a article where kobe said he bought his parents a home and cars, he said he didnt like the fact that after they had everything they needed, his mom felt the need to sell some of his things he let them have to a auction. That made him upset, Maybe his parents were asked to speak and didnt want to. And for people saying they were in the back they were in the front at the memorial. Vanessa also said she invited them to kobe's hall of fame induction and they did not come. From what i see vanessa still has a relationship with one of kobe's sisters and his niece. I think the parents owe her a apology because she has always been a good wife and never clout chased at the height of kobes fame. She could of took him for alot when he cheated but she stood by him. So after 4 grandkids and 18 or 19 years of marriage they should of made things right and accepted her.

If you watched the interview that Kobe gave you would know that the last time they fell out was about a house he bought for his parents that didn't measure up to what Kobe's mom wanted, so she sold some of Kobe's memorabilia that he had to buy back from an auction house. Vanessa's mother lived with Kobe and Vanessa and acted as their nanny, she sued Vanessa a couple of years ago for 200k saying it was owed to her for taking care of their kids. Kobe said he saw that his family was becoming too dependent on him,and he wanted them to follow their own dreams, and find their own way in life. There's some context missing. Kobe and his parents stopped speaking for a long time after he and Vanessa married, but they eventually made up. They fell out AGAIN a couple years before Kobe died because his mom asked Kobe to buy them another house and he refused, after which they tried to auction off some of his memorabilia. He sued to stop them, you can search his old tweets talking about this and how hurt he was by it.

Thanks for clarifying for those who didn't know (i knew, but I saw a lot of ignorant comments). Another disagreement is Kobe's dad had Kobe invest in a basketball team in Europe and and it lost millions and flopped horribly. So Kobe kinda felt a way about that. Yes parents and kids should always keep a strong bond, but things happen and in real life ppl fall out. It's complicated and a lot of people are oversimplifying it

Kobe's parents had a problem with him marrying so young and deciding to marry who he ended up marrying because, word has it, she was a hooker and messing around with rappers while she was still in high school. Kobe met Vanessa at a Snoop Dogg/Eastsidaz video. Also, Kobe's parents encouraged him to marry someone from his own culture. Which is something traditionally done amongst people from all ethnic groups all over the world, because if someone in the marriage passes away then their wealth or whatever they have will stay in the community.

He was able to be locked in all the way for a 20 year career and his home and kids was always held down with no noise or scandals from her end. She seemed to understand her role and I have no problem whatsoever with women like her, Savanna James getting everything. The parents seemed overly concerned with his relationship and money tho even tho Im not knocking them for getting security from honestly irrelevant material possessions. I would think in death Kobe would want them to do this as they still are his parents at the end of the day even if he had to love them from a distance in life.
