Don't typically send these comments! But some of y'all have pointed out that I technically condoned violence. You know what, good call out. But we're leaving this up to show what my natural reaction was. But to everyone reaching out on that, thanks actually! Keep standing up for what you believe in. Much love.

I agree with you 100%...Many people think that condoning violence is morally wrong but so is being a violent person!!! Therefore, it is usually a normal human's reaction to say exactly what you said...It was my reaction to this song and still is every time I listen to it!!! It usually ends up the exact opposite...nobody steps in to help and the woman ends up dead! Better him than her....I wish someone would have done that for me and my Mom when I was a kid!!! Love your reaction!!!!

The most striking part to me was he asked God for mercy, not the court. This story is about a man of conviction , not a man being convicted. I’m a retired police officer, I couldn’t count the times I was obligated to arrest people that in my gut I wanted to shake their hand.

I had to be that brother once. I have never seen fear in anyone else's face like the fear in that a@#holes face. He was so tough beating on my sister. But never again i can still remember the sound of his crying and begging. No man should ever let that type of behavior go unpunished. It happened over and over cops could do nothing to stop him. My boys know this story and know what is expected of them if it ever happens to either of their sisters.

It may be a fantasy in the song, but it's anything but fantasy IRL. It affects 10's of thousands of Americans, men as well as women and children, on a daily basis...animals too. Sadly, abusers come in all sexes, sizes, shapes, and ages. There are so many types of abuse. It's not just physical.

HARDY released this song and video and also released it as a single to radio all within a couple days apart. He gave fans only a day or two notice, but on the day he announced a new song, he said it was probably the best song he's written. Now understand that HARDY had already dominated all the songwriting awards in Nashville the last couple years before this song dropped. I think even HARDY fans who know his talent were surprised with how good and powerful this song and message was; and not only that but the credits reveal that HARDY was behind the concept of the video as well. It's directed by the regular Wallen-HARDY-ERNEST video director. But what fans of HARDY do know is that if a modern country song and video could come out this good and powerful, HARDY would be the one to do it!

I wish they would do a documentary on the behind the scenes making of this video. Every detail is perfection and was well thought out by someone. I especially like the clothing/wardrobe chosen. The woman is dressed modestly and appropriately for both her court appearance and her prison visit. No gratuitous half naked women in this video. I live in Nashville and while I can find humor in seeing countless I'm-from-the-country clichés, I gotta admit that we really do dress/act/react just like that. ❤❤❤

My mother stopped her car for a woman getting beat at a bus stop outside of ATL. She was 100 yards from my dad's work and lit into that guy. She was 66 years old and had her 3 granddaughters, ages 12,11 & 9, in the car. The 12 year old being my daughter. She's yelling at the girls to go get Papa who was at the Harley Davidson shop. He was gone by the time my dad got there, but the young woman did need an ambulance. Mama's 81 now and would still do it. She's not as spry now and my dad is gone. She and my grandmother taught us to stand up for others. We aren't always the smartest of situations when we do it ,whether minor or major, but we're all redheads and tend to not overthink and just help.

Music videos use to be so cool. And aging myself, but back in the day when MTV and CMT actually played music videos, I miss that. This is one of the best music videos I have seen in years. It reminds me of Reba's video for "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia" and Garth Brook's video for "Standing Outside The Fire". You get pulled into the story and like you said, in under five minutes, this song/video gives us a better story than many two-hour long movies.

He SHOULD have brought her to the hospital and called the cops and got a restraining order and then perhaps given HER the gun and if the guy every came back after her and violated the PO, then SHE could defend herself, but what he did was straight out murder and murder is NEVER the right answer when living in a civilization. if anyone ever lays hands on my daughter, they better PRAY the cops get to him before I do!! Actually found out after the fact that my daughter had been beaten to the point of spending time in the hospital, didn't know it till a couple years later, as I was not in my daughters life as much as I'd have liked to been, divorce, circumstances, etc. Once I did find out, he paid a price!!! I didn't kill him, but he spent more than 3 weeks in a hospital recovering from the beating I gave him, and the warning I gave him, he NEVER told the police who had assualted him, even though I told him exactly who I was, before I beat him down within an inch of his pathetic and miserable, drug fueled life.

My dad abused my mom and the law enforcement in that county always took his side because his grand parents were major donors to them she finally had enough and left with me while he was a work and moved back home the judge at the time here and the prosecutor both was family friends unknown to him so when he started making threats about coming here it didn’t take long for my family and might as well be family to be informed that anything they did to him in this county short of putting him in the ground would be thrown out as self defense before they even spent the night in jail (They both knew that it was gonna happen anyway if he came around so wasn’t point in telling them not to lol)

Heck the judge and prosecutor(both unofficial family)in my county both told my family and extended family that whatever they did to my dad short of killing him the charges would be dropped before they even had to spend the night in jail after his grandparents made a mid 6 figure donation in there county to get a multi-jurisdictional case heard there due to the fact that they could control the verdict there and they knew they were gonna make a example out of him here(they were wealthy farmers that had donated well over a million dollars keeping him out of jail over the years on top of that)

That is his truck that she is driving at the end. Back in the late 90s I went to work on a farm, and I lived on it. I was told that the farm manager worked there because he couldn't find a job anywhere else, because he was a felon. He had walked in on some guy raping his young daughter and had killed the guy. He went to prison, did his time, and was out now. He was an awesome guy, did a really good job running the farm, and really took care of his daughter.

My coworker is sitting in jail for something similar, his girls ex-husband (who she had a restraining order against) beat her and his son up after the divorce and was harassing them, he made the mistake of showing up to the house while she was out of town and we don’t know the full story yet because the investigation is ongoing but the ex-husband is in a pine box and my coworker is in jail awaiting his preliminary hearing. I can’t say if what he did would be considered justified/self defense due to the circumstances of when it happened, but I don’t feel bad for the ex-husband knowing what he has done before.

I agree with you and the message he sending in this song.. I spent 18 years out of my 25-year sentence in state prison for the sob that beat my ex wife and daughter to death my daughter was only 7 years old with a whole lot life to live.. I'll don't regret or change anything that I did it was worth it like the old saying eye for eye.. I might not make it into heaven to see my daughter again but I go to hell with a smile on my face and spending eternity torturing that sob for eternity!! I'm so sorry that my message was deep and vomit but I'm just telling the sad cold reality truth!!

I have an ex who nearly killed me many times. It is only by the grace of God I did not kill him and that I am free. Only by the grace of Jesus my Lord am I writing this comment. Women are 10 times more likely to be killed leaving the abuse. Yet, there are countless women in prison for using lethal force in defence. Leave. Just get out. Take the only thing that matters....your life.

Country music has no shortage of "kill your abuser" or "kill your cheatin' spouse" songs. Let's see...you've got "The Night the Lights went out in Georgia," "Gunpowder and Lead," "Thunder Rolls," "Papa Loved Mama," "Independence Day," and i'm sure i'm missing about a half dozen others. And they are all so good.

I don’t have my own KZbin channel, but I hear from other ones KZbin doesn’t like the word “kill” they prefer the term “unalive” I love your reactions as when it comes to country music I am a fan of the old classics from late 80s, 90s, & maybe early 2000s but not so much since…. However this song is an amazing exception. Just trying to say I love the content & keep doing what you’re doing 🥰👍😉

When she says "....a judge under a seat." she's referring to a revolver known as a Judge. It's a 45/410 pistol and not for the inexperienced shooter. The 45 is known as the best man stopper, not killer but stopper caliber. It's big enough for medium size game animals. A 410 is a shotgun round and it's the smallest shotgun round but it can permanently ruin someone's day.

When I was 19, I got married to someone I barely knew. He moved me off to another state, away from my family & friends. New Year’s Eve, he beat me up inside a nice club while everyone watched. (I just wanted to go home.) Someone called the cops, he was arrested & a friend took me home. I called my sister & begged her not to tell our parents. The next day, my dad & brother showed up, (they had to drive 22 hours straight). They called the cops when they got to town to meet me so I could get my things. I had no idea what was going on. My ex dropped me off & was going to get out with me but the cops stopped him & said he better just leave because her (me) dad had a loaded gun with him! Lol! Never saw him again. I thank my sister everyday for telling my parents that night & for my dad & brother who cared enough to come & get me! I’m old now & have a wonderful man & even though my dad is 90, he’d probably get his gun out again if anyone tried to hurt me! 😂❤

I was a Correctional officer for a state prison. We had a man known as Preacher serving life without parole for murder . He was always polite and quoting the Bible, he even lead a church service on Sundays in the dorm. One day while transporting him I asked him ( not really expecting an answer) what the heck he did to get there. He looked me in the eyes and said, " My daughter was kidnapped , raped and killed by a guy she had a date with. He was released after 18 months for " good behavier". I tracked him down and sent him to our Maker". I checked out his story later, because I was used to inmates telling their side only-- he told the truth. I cant beleive this man died in prison for murder. Should have been found ' innocent by reason of temperary insanity' at least !

Awesome reaction, I love the visual at the end, after 60 months she is still in his truck. Many years ago I had to run with my 3 babies to save our lives, we started over with only the clothes we were wearing, I had tried to get help, but the cops were useless ( they looked at my bloody busted up face and told me if I did as I was told he wouldn't hit me) and after years of getting away with it, he just got worse and worse. Every situation is different, but the constant is that no one has the right to abuse another person.

Everyone seems that he went there just to kill him. You could believe that he took his judge just in case. He could have shot him as soon as he entered the house, but he grabbed him and threw him on the floor. He might have been going to beat him to a pulp, but when the jerk went for the 12 (12 gauge shotgun) he shot him in self defense. (JUSTICE)
