This was only the Second Race for our New Metric Street Stock but I was super happy with how it turned out. We started out slow and had to make a few immediate changes to the setup. Speaking of setup, I also went over the scales numbers again and showed the scaling, ride heights, shock, and spring details we were running. Before the night was over we were in second place and I can see this car has checker flags in it's future.

Have you had the car on the scales and added 40 lbs to the right rear and seen actual number changes on the scales. I bet it increases rear percentage more than right rear weight.

Oh yeah, It absolutely increases year as the most noticeable change on the scales. I will leave it on when I scale this week. I sure could tell when I added that as far as getting the car to hook in on entry

With two races under my belt and seeing how easy the car will turn I am feeling pretty confident we could try jacking in some more bite and the ole girl will still turn.

Great video Jason, congratulations on the second place finish. Have you ever thought about placing a camera or two on the rear suspension to see (and show us) exactly how the car is transitioning into the corner, mid corner and exit? That, along with your commentary would be great.

I have in the past and plan to again. It's always a battle for time and all the chaos to get it done. I work alone mostly so it's getting it on the car and then getting it turned on and jumping in the car at the right moment to go!

Congratulations guys! Just from watching, and i dont know a lot, but does it need a little more RR weight to help that LF and also unhook the RR some from center off?
@DIRTRACELIFE
@DIRTRACELIFE 3 ай бұрын
It DEFINITELY improved when I bolted that 40lbs over the RR. I think I have learned enough at this point to maybe dial in some more bite but keep the car turning. working on the setup again this week.
@Gregorybridgewater

@DIRTRACELIFE yes sir! The car is definitely very close. I too get kind of lost on weights when you have a car that can be tight in the center to the point that it won't let you pick up the throttle at the right time. Like, it digs coming off, could always have more, but that drift perplexes me. I'll be watching intently as you make adjustments. It's so close to winning, thank you for bringing us all along Jason!

I run dirt modifieds i would put 100 pds heavier lf spring for lr drive and be 100 reverse wedge and run lr swing arm to plant it dig
@DIRTRACELIFE
@DIRTRACELIFE 3 ай бұрын
I think a heavier LF could help. Car turns in easy and it would help me plant the car in entry. Rules stop me from altering the trailing arms to a swing arm setup but still you got me thinking different about that LF and I appreciate that sir.

Do 0-6 valve 200 lbs gas pressre lr and reverse wedge 80 rr heavy with a-6 rr your loose from to much wedge that works on stop and go tracks were u need a loose condition ive run a9010 shock on left rear before no gas pressure u need car to roll over on rr and on metric clips high lft frt spring rate works well remember tie rod angle it will mess with roll steer put spacer on top of spindle and go 8 plus caster rf so if will apply lr wedge

Y'all coast into the corners and then have to wait to get back in the throttle. We've been dropping Left % (49-50%) and rear % (52.5 - 53%)... we were 52-53% left & 54.5-55% rear... transfer wasn't where we needed it. Left side % isn't needed if LR is constant. We used to run high ride heights similar to yours... now, we're in the low to mid 7" LF and high 6" on the RF... low to mid 8" on the LR and low to mid 7" on the RR. Steep LR lower bar angle, flat to very slight raise to chassis on the RR.... upper arms roll center 18-19"... LF 650-900# - RF 700-800# LR 80# - RR 200# or a 225 progressive 75# LR bite 2" wheel offsets with 1" spacers on LR, LF, RF, our RR sucked in with a 4 offset. LF chain 1-1/2 to 2" RR chain 1/4" dynamic load (be careful loading this chain/spring... it'll tighten the chassis, and if you go too far, it'll decrease your sidebite) LR chain 3-1/2" - 4" of droop 8-4 tie down LF 10-4 tie down RF 2-10 cob LR 4040 - 6040 tie down RR

We are very close on some of this suff like the shocks. One big difference is ride height. The larger the driver the more critical ride height becomes and a low left side car will absolutely just lock down with no roll with a big driver. thats the big difference in my opinion
@RichFife
@RichFife 3 ай бұрын
@DIRTRACELIFE where is your front roll center compared to the rear roll center? We've played around a bit with the roll centers and roll axis. We found on momentum tracks taller ride heights are a crutch (for our area)... and seem to work better on smaller bull-ring style tracks. Big/momentum tracks low with the LR constant ("on the bar") yields drive, diagonal x-fer and a good RR spring that's ideally loaded will help stick the RR on entry and help to rotate from center out... if your car is set-up fast, you should be able to damn near drive to the apex on the larger sweeping tracks. Given that may not be ideal for some tracks but, it's typically a solid way to test the setup. If the nose goes where you point it and holds while hard on throttle... 👍
@RichFife
@RichFife 3 ай бұрын
We don't care about the LR corner height. As our left side is already taller than our right side. So we're 'kinda' already in a dynamic state... I'll snap some pics of how our SS are at static and dynamic this coming weekend... Our area(s) race on 5/16, 1/3, 3/8, 4/10, 1/2 mile tracks. Some oval, some paperclip, some D shaped, from flat to banked. Low Left side% adds to a faster transfer... we literally drive into the corner, partially back off throttle while trailing the brake, a quick stab to pull the front in and right back to the wood and we can run/hold the hub, mid or top side.

It’s seams like you was waiting for ever to pick the gas back up you should try not letting all the way out and try more and more till you find the breaking point should never be out of the gas that long

It’s been hot but that surface just will not hold together, I know they are trying but there’s no hope lol I do think you got a rocket ship once you get her dialed in!!

I would LOVE to see them put 50 loads of clay or gumbo on that track. I think Jeff Hill even offered to donate the kind they needed from the farm but of course the huge cost is the digging and transport.
