I think the new Daytona is a great addition to the budget middleweight sportbike market. It offers a competitive price and a unique 3-cylinder engine with decent power and features. While it's a bit on the heavier side, considering the price, it's forgivable. But, imo, using Daytona's name for this kind of bike doesn't sit well with me. What's your thought?
@LOCKHIMUP202410 ай бұрын
Why do you think they introduced a less powerful watered down version from the original ⁉️ This seems to be a trend....😮
@FruityLoops052110 ай бұрын
This is exactly what I thought when I first saw the bike. The DAYTONA name is something I associate with a track oriented bike. Sure, they were good road bikes as well but their primary focus was shaving off time at your tracks. Now it feels like the complete opposite, road bike first then track bike second (but even as a track bike I don't think it would make the best platform to do so). They could've called the bike anything else but the Daytona 660 and I wouldn't mind it in the least. Might just be me and/or possibly a few other people but using the name Daytona just doesn't live up to the previous bikes that had the Daytona name.

For the small price difference I'd have a hard time seeing why anyone would choose the Yamaha. The first bike I owned back in 1970 was a used '68 Triumph 500 (Tiger 100) and it couldn't take the abuse a 19 year old was giving it constantly, ... which left a really bad taste in my mouth about Triumph, and so I never owned another. I like this one though. The triple cylinder sounds a hundred times better than the twin, and the bike looks a lot better than the R7 too.

@wargolemx10210 ай бұрын
Yamaha seems to be lazy these past years. In the R7 for example, I've read there's no difference in the tuning for the R7 vs the MT07 - it's literally just a faired and reinforced MT07. The R3 is also left behind, so much so that the R15 has more tech and better design than the damn thing. The R6 was also never made emmision compliant, unlike the ZX6R and the CBR600RR.
@BlueNades110 ай бұрын
@@wargolemx102Yeah, yamaha has been becoming lazier ever since 2018, they didn't even try making an euro 5 compliant R6, they just pulled the plug, the Mt07 still has standard forks,(even though it's 2023, and inverted forks have pretty much become the standard) is low on power, and it's price doesn't justify the lack of features. The R7 has been getting clapped ever since it's been introduced, first by the cbr650r and the Rs660, and now by the daytona 660, the R7's only redeeming quality is it's lightness, and it's still not enough to bridge the HP gap, Yamaha should really do something about the CP2 and CP3 platforms, they are so behind the competition it's unreal.

The performance figures aren't too far apart with the MV being the winner interms of performance specs. The main question is how much are you willing to spend. You can get a Z900 for less than 10k while the Brutale is around 15k, you get the MV if you want something a little more exotic and you get the Z900 if you want the bang for your buck. This is just my humble opinion though.
