Arum wanted to step up Mayrunner's opponents (main reason why Mayrunner left Top Rank) to develop him into a better fighter and Mayrunner wanted to keep fighting bums. His first serious opponent was Castillo and he lost that fight. From then on Mayrunner cherry picked, ducked and retired in order to avoid fighters he felt threatened by.
