In Islam, it's not as simple as just having multiple wives up to 4 because a man can afford financially, but he also has to be fair to all wives in every espect (and kids from those wives), etc.. They also hv to make their marriage known to the other wives (to avoid slander, to avoid his children falling in love with each other, to avoid fighting for inheritance let say when the husband passed away - lawful wives have same rights unlike women who are only mistresses, among other possibilities if the marriages are kept secrets). I'm a Muslim woman myself, and i noticed a lot of these men only emphasised the financial ability, while ignored the rest of the requirements. I detest such selfish men, they took only part of the religion's, while ignored the rest. I hate women who would obviously knew of the men's present (esp if the men are rich and well known in the community/state/country) marriage/s but pretended not knowing.

I wonder what Sarah had in the way of close friends, friends close enough for her to discuss what she was finding out about her husband. I would expect good friends would counsel her to leave the marriage, to accept that things were too far gone for any efforts to fix it. They could have offered emotional support while she separated. Similarly, if she had a therapist, the therapist could have facilitated such an insight. And maybe the private eye could have said something, directed her toward counselling specialists or support groups. Did she keep it all inside, churning and turbining through her head until an overheated decision completely took her over? No indicator of her considering her option of accepting the situation for what it is and moving on with her life, whether she wants to or not, seems to be part of the story. Is the story behind the story one about the psychological consequences of not turning to peer or professional counsellors when necessary?
