I’ve hit this a lot and have been accused of just using strength. Glad to know that it’s a legit technique.

If anyone accuses you of using strength for anything other than an Americana they can eat a dick.
@eclipsewrecker4 жыл бұрын
@delta Pi yes, we get that. We just look at good technique as ‘accomplishing goals as efficiently as possible.’ Also- I catch the arm bar/hyperextension behind my knee in various positions; mostly in scrambles. Scrambles are another place that wrestlers are superior.

Coach Vlad, it just so happens that I came across your videos before I found the TeachMeGrappling channel, so I recognized your name in the title of this video. Two of my favorite videos on your channel are your 4 foot sweeps in no gi and the pinch headlock control one. Oss!

Simple and powerful ! Arsen Shalov, a russian BJJ teacher said the exact same thing: when you oponent feels pressure on the head/throat he will forget about the other parts and you can use that to your advantage.
@rationalthinker96123 жыл бұрын
I saw this video quite a few months ago and bookmarked it in my BJJ folder. Today before class I decided to look at some old video footage to see if I could add a sub to my arsenal and randomly picked this one. This moved looked straight forward and easy enough, even for stumpy ass legs like mine. The very first person who's back I took today was the subject of my attempt and it worked like a charm!!! Granted, the guy I tapped probably has only a few months of BJJ under his belt but to be honest, those are the type of opponents in which I try all of my new stuff until I become proficient at it. Thanks for the new move Coach. OSS!!

My coach knows Vlad from wayyyy back. Was worried you weren't going to say the word "Sambo" but in the last minute it came out :-) There are many types of sambo (sport, combat, military) and Hybrid Sambo incorporates a lot of bjj. Sport sambo doesn't even have chokes anymore, probably in retaliation to Judo banning leg attacks. Combat sambo you can ground and pound with a jacket on! A jacket with extra handles! Closest thing to MMA before there was MMA, so they are going to have some legitimate techniques. Cool share, cool to see coach excited. coolcoolcool

Brian brother, dont worry even if it has been shown 100.000 times, if you show it in your way of showing and explanation its allway new and super helpfull, I learned so much by watching your videos, and i must say i also screwed up alot but then I watch the video over and over again until my brain gets it right and it works, thats such an awesome moment. Thank you for that. 🙏🤙

I have seen this move ending in the armbar, but I have never seen the americana/kimura from the backside arm trap, very cool stuff! A friend and I stumbled on this armbar after watching some Nicky Ryan arm traps from back control, you can tuck your foot back behind the back as well!

Mr dear Brian, I really appreciate your working principles very much. I mean you see a useful technique and u get it by honoring the inventer with a frank behaviour, although u are a professor u be humble and get good information from everyone, u don't keep it to yourself and u share it, this is all wonderful. I was recently rolling with a white belt in my class, and I got her in guard so I went for the omoplata. In doing so I didn't swing my leg up high enough on her shoulder, and I only trapped her elbow, so I just did an arm bar from there instead
