I really like this grip for control and attacks. I refer to it as reverse kimura grip. It is excellent for Baratoplata as you already have shown in previous videos. That armdrag is so simple from there, I love it.

One of my favorites, thanks for the details. There's also a double-attack with a flower-sweep to mount, depending on their reaction. Works great in gi too. (Maybe even better, because you can get a strong sleeve or pistol grip instead of just a wrist.)

This is a move I use on partners that are my size or smaller. When I try it on larger opponents I find it difficult to get the leverage needed to slide around to take the back. My larger partners will often trap my leg under their body or they may be able to resist being pulled over when I reach around their back.

Awesome stuff! I hope you don't me sharing this, I do about the same with the 2-on-1 grip, but after I switch grips(where your palm now faces your partner and your pushing their hand into them), I would take my hand that's holding the elbow, let go of the elbow, wrap it around their arm, as if I'm making a reverse kimura. That allows me to pin their elbow and at at the same time, I push their hand out at where my hips are. Then I switch my hips to that same side, I climb my legs up to their armpit as close as possible, and my arm that's holding their hand/wrist, I let go, grab their head, pull to keep their posture broken. From there, I go to the Williams guard by releasing my hand that's wrap around the arm(which is like a overhook at this point) and grab my leg that's on their back and putting the pressure to keep them down, and lock the grips like the way Sean Williams showed. Triangles, omoplatas, far-side armbar, kimuras, chokes are there. I think the Williams guard position is also good as it locks out one arm while the other arm can't hit back while you're able to dish out hammer fists/elbows maybe.

@samuraisteve27755 жыл бұрын
Coach, watch Rickson again. He keeps his posture without putting his hands on his opponent. As it was explained to me years ago, his hands hover barely over his opponent. Only when they rise up do they run into his hands to block. He keeps his hands free to open the legs and does not commit them to his opponent’s body. 🙏
@TeachMeGrappling5 жыл бұрын
I understand that. If the hand is removed the posture will be broken. It’s as simple as that. True posture is made with balance and hand positioning and winning the hand fight.
@samuraisteve27755 жыл бұрын
TeachMeGrappling Coach Brian Most Jits guys do teach to bring both collars together, hand on the hip, and all the stuff I know you already know. If the top man depends on his posts to maintain his posture and you remove them, then of course you are 100% correct. I have to use those posts, too, as I am not Master Rickson. As a perfect example: Watch the clip of Master Rickson from his new series he is putting out. The approximate minute long teaser video shows Rickson never committing his hands to his opponent’s body, hand fighting to break his opponent’s grips, never looking to attach to the bottom man with grips, maintain his posture, and use his hands to open the legs. Maybe I am explaining it terribly and my description is giving you the wrong visual image. Rickson does not post on the bottom man’s hip or hold the collars and post to keep the bottom man down. 🙏 Much respect. 🙏
@samuraisteve27755 жыл бұрын
Watch the basic guard pass teaser from his Self Defense unit. You will notice that he is not posting hard with his right hand, and that is lightly floats on the bottom man. Not until his left hand grabs the Gi pants does he out any downward pressure, which you will see. Watch how lightly that hand moves on the body. This was explained to me by Matt Thornton years ago as he received his Blue from Rickson. 🙏
@TeachMeGrappling5 жыл бұрын
I understand. I guess what I’m trying to say is that when all is equal, in other words the force applied by the bottom man’s pull is countered by the top man’s center of gravity (pelvis forward, leaning back), the bottom man will attempt to sit up and reach for breaking posture. The top man now has to apply an equal resistance to stop it. This is where the hands come in and the hand fight. If the bottom man can successfully clear the hands from blocking, the posture will be controlled/broken. I’m well aware of the skills. In the real world, it’s a fight and there is never a perfect solution with all opponents. I’m not at all saying Rickson’s technique won’t work. I’m trying to say... there is a counter to a counter, and a counter to that counter.... etc. 🤙

At around 6:05 talking about Ricksons' hip tilt. He actually doesn't use his hands in the technique. You can watch it here :- kzbin.info/www/bejne/gaHLqaqur69meas
@TeachMeGrappling5 жыл бұрын
I’ve posted about this with others. If your hips are tilted as so, the bottom man can pull himself to you which means your hands will have to block otherwise he is coming up and your balance can be taken backwards and to the side like in a hip bump sweep. Hand fighting will be an integral part of the game. Winner of the hand fight will win the situation most of the time.
