And it's seemingly implied that his "operator" is in fact a Coral Wave Mutation like Ayre and Seria

I was expecting the pilots to be brains in a jar due to the extreme amount of G-forces they have to endure when piloting their ACs. Then I remembered they aren't NEXTs. These might be AC6 ACs. Not as fast as NEXTs, but it's fast enough.

They don't have faces in the *games* as a stylistic choice. The ancillary media for AC has never followed this rule. Things like the AC manga and light novels very much gives faces to the pilots. Another example is the official art book for the original Armored Core, which has full body portraits of the pilots. Amusingly, the concept art for Hustler One (pilot of Nine-Ball) is very clearly inspired by Armored Schwarzenegger (not even subtle, he is just straight up The Terminator). Given that, maybe having a big name action celebrity playing an AC pilot isn't that out of place after all.

There are concept arts for how the cockpit would look like in the old Armored Core games. Gen 5 Armored Core ( AC5 and Verdict Day) cockpit are pretty small with how they look in the concept arts. ​​​​​@@VitorHugoOliveiraSousait depends on continuity, the only confirmed Augmented Human protagonist are 4th gen AC (AC4 and FA, without it, they can't pilot NEXT) and 6 (self explanatory). Every other games are normal human but you can become augmented if you lose too many time (AC1-AC2AA), or you could equip some sort of AC OP parts that give benefit like augmented human while still being normal human (AC3-Silent Line). Late 3rd gen (AC Nexus-Last Raven) is just normal human fighting pilot using those op parts. 5th gen (ACV-Verdict Day) is normal human, but you encounter some Augmented Human enemies. Iirc, in AC6, V1 Freud is a normal pilot.

I've been a fan of Armored Core since 1997, I've been wanting something like this forever. Those opening cgi movies could only do so much for the imagination, and now we finally have something thanks to the revival of the franchise last year. If only this episode could branch off into a movie or a series... Keanu has to come with it though.

Jokes aside, one thing I loved here was that the combat is actually a lot more deadly than it does in the game. Two heavy bipens like those seen would their ACS's overloaded, and they'd be killed in seconds in-game if they just sat there like they do. But instead it genuinely feels like they're two juggernauts leveraging their armor and firepower. Plus, the physicality of the ACs also shows up here. Mainly with that leap into a shoulder tackle performed by Shrieker.

Bro. Imagine a laser blade on the right arm and pulse shield on the left arm and whenever you use the blade to dash in your ac automatically deploys the arm shield to protect itself mid dash. It will be cool juat saying.
