Probably the hardest thing to convey from the books would be the fact that chaos symbols can drive someone insane from looking at them. He could also be referring to how Chaos Marines are birthed, which... I'll leave you to google instead of describing that horror show.

An observation I had during this scene: I noticed that the Astartes with the boltgun wasn’t shooting at the T’au. He was shooting at the ground to cause dust to fly up into the air. Because of this, even thought the stealth suit was activated you can still see the T’au move from one pillar to the other. And the other space marine sprinting towards the T’au saw it too. Cool detail, but I may be over-analyzing a couple of misses a bit lol.

@@lafiki999 if you watched the previous trailer, you'd notice pederson has a penchant for the tiniest details like this. like when one marine took out the corrupted psyker, and the other started blasting, the punching guy's cape flew up slightly with each shot because they were explosive rounds. another example was the barely visible bullet ricochet from the force wave during the melee rush. another example was the double shot the marine did when facing the heavy defensive position because there were two manning the post instead of one im firmly on the side of believing all the little details are MEANT to be there. that's how good this rendition series is

@@lafiki999 yeah, he missed, but kept firing. The dust revealing the stealth suit is a side effect of that. It's more something that is well done by the animator, rather than a strategy employed by the character in the trailer. The space marine running towards the tau might use that to his advantage, but we'll see in the full series. I'd love to see the tau animated because of their force shields, holographic projectors and mechanical suits giving so much to play around with.

For those new to Warhammer or didn't catch the community post, this upcoming animation is going to be covering Deathwatch, a special branch of the Inquisition that pulls veterans from various Space Marine chapters to specifically fight aliens in elite kill teams. Games Workshop said on their website this teaser is a compilation of scenes from their past lives, and won't actually be included in the final animation. So this is most likely before they all join a team together. Theres a Retributor Marine in the grey armor with a gold hand clutching a skull on his armor. The black and yellow boys are the Scythes of the Emperor The black and white bro killing orks is a Mortifactor The red marine with the jump pack is a Blood Angel (though I've seen some say he's an Angel Vermillion, which may make sense since the rest are successor chapters) and lastly there is a Son of Medusa in the green. You can tell it will be about Deathwatch due to the Terminator Helmet at the very end bearing the symbol of the inquisition, and the trailer phrase saying "Suffer not the Xeno to live". You can expect to see them all clad in black armor with one silver engraved pauldron, and the other pauldron bearing their home chapter. If you've played Space Marine 2, these are the guys in the beginning of the campaign.

I knew something was up because I swear I've seen that clip of the Mortifactor punching in the two orks heads and getting dogpiled before. And yeah it's Vermilion, not a Blood Angel. I'm kind of curious why they all seem to be wearing Mk7 or 8 armour from the helmets, I would have expected them to be Primaris in mark 10. Hell, weren't the Scythes of the Emperor basically wiped out or close to it by the Tyranids and only came back due to the primaris reinforcements?

Honestly I'd just love to see more of this kind of depiction for ALL the 40k factions. We need less flanderization and awkward contrived scripts, and more media where BOTH sides are depicted as competent with plausible goals and high stakes combat that feels real.

For those who are interested. The Space Marine wearing gray armor is the main character, Astartes 1, that Space Marine belongs to the Retributors chapter, Successors of Imperial Fists chapter. The Space Marine wearing black and gold armor with the badge of two crossed scythes is the Scythes of the Emperor chapter, Successors of Ultramarine chapter. The Space Marine wearing black and white armor is Mortifactors, also Successors of Ultramarine. The Space Marine wearing green armor is the Son of Medusa chapter, Successors of Iron Hans chapter. The Space Marine wearing red armor and black hat is not the Blood Angels chapter but the Angels Vermillion chapter, Successors of Blood Angels chapter. Because if everyone pays close attention, is sharp and quick-witted, you will see a skull inside the badge of the winged blood drop.

If I had to guess, GW probably initially put him on a fairly influential position in the team, but he only just got to be a team lead. Pariah nexus, SM2 cutscenes, and secret level are all on a totally different level compared to previous GW space marine movies, he's definitely been putting in work; just not leading them. With how secret level and this teaser is turning out, I'm sure he's gotten some significant recognition just recently.

Not just for Warhammer 40k. Syama Pedersen is the best animator I've ever seen. He puts more nuance, detail, character, atmosphere, action, and story telling in a few frames than most TV shows and movies show in minutes, or even hours. Watching the Astartes episodes 1-5, I had to replay numerous sections multiple times to catch all the details he included, and each rewatch kept getting better. The dude is insanely talented, and his works are better than those produced by multi billion dollar animation studios.

The chainsword (Eviscerator?) that's rammed home and _then_ activated is just brutal! Top marks. I _really_ love how from a recently more Primaris centric GW, that this is Firstborn Marines. I'm generally fine with most of the Primaris lore and model range, but 30 years of adoring Firstborn lore and models stays with you. I still feel there's a place for both 'eras' of Marines; Firstborn models allow you to set your battles, campaigns, narratives, etc. at more or less any time period in the 10ish millennia of the Imperium's existence, whilst the Primaris only really allow for content/events set within the last few hundred years. Moving the narrative on is great, glorious even, but appearing to forget the resolute warriors and histories set at earlier points is a real shame. I still fervently hope there's a place for both Firstborn _and_ Primaris, with Chapters fully of either or with a mix. Either way, I suddenly want 2026 to hurry along for this! 🫶🏼

not just tanks, I love his style of bolter too, barrel and magazine proportion is very practical. I ussually see those bolters with massive barrel and chonky bolt ammo in an oversize magazine which I think can hold only 10-15 rounds, I know that bolter caliber is .90 JDJ almost a size of hand grenade for normal human, but space marine are oversize human too, so it should not too big in their hand.

I loved the cloaked dash to evade. I don't mind seeing the Tau lose, just so long as they're treated with respect and depicted as the frighteningly precise and efficient profession military they are. And hopefully pulse rifles are depicted as the serious (greater than bolter) threat that they are too. Pedersen was pretty good with showing the antagonists in a competent light in his first Astartes animation, so fingers crossed. I'm slightly anxious about the ever excessively over done "Tau grabbed by the head" scene, but I'll wait to see it properly before judging.

This is so truly incredible but one thing that needs to be highlighted that I haven't seen anyone talk about is just how good everything looks even in daylight lighting. Dark lighting can go a long way to hide imperfections in 3d modelling and animation, but everything in broad daylight in this teaser looks just as good if not better in full light. I don't want to make it sound like hyperbole, but the guy who did Astartes, and is now doing this, could single handedly grow the entire Warhammer 40k with just his sheer talent, so long as Game's Workshop properly promotes this film(s). Astartes is what my buddies showed me years ago, and it started a love for the world of 40K, saddened by KZbin turmoil and unable to make more videos, he was given sanctity by the emperor to give us more enjoyment at a higher budget. Praise the Emperor, Astartes has returned
