Secret Life #5 - Bdubs Is Amazing!

Secret Life is an odd mix of a Social and PvP Minecraft game started by Grian. Players are thrown into a tiny world with almost no rules, except survive as long as possible.
In Secret Life, players are given a random secret task to complete before the episode is over which rewards up to 10 hearts or bonus items. Easy Tasks can be rerolled once into a Hard Task which rewards up to 20 hearts or bonus items, but carries the penalty risk of losing 10 hearts if you fail it. If someone guesses your secret, it is no longer a secret, and you fail the secret task.
3 Lives = Green Player
2 Lives = Yellow Player
1 Life = Red Player
Red Players are given the goal of killing all the other players in the game.

when I watched Cleo's POV it was pretty obvious that Etho couldn't move when he was being watched. He picked up an item by placing blocks to move it towards him, he mined out a room without moving and leaving the drops on the ground, etc. etc. Then watching bdubs POV, it's so obvious that I don't understand how Joel didn't call him out. He was frozen in place, getting in the way of them both when building the spawner, and he had to completely cover himself up to escape. I think some people are just unobservant. He's been doing bait tasks every week, so I'm not sure how people are still being fooled.

@@mindblow4248 I personally interpreted "can't sneak" to mean "can't crouch walk," because the theme of the task is "you are a weeping angel. Don't move while people are looking at you" and sneaking in and of itself isn't moving. I also think it falls more in line with the phrasing of "you must not walk, run, or [crouch walk]" since apparently the task felt it necessary to differentiate the forms of movement. So I wouldn't consider Etho sneaking on a ledge to be a fail.

yeah i feel like Etho was really screwed on this one. plus with the book from Pearl it really wasn't fair, when both tasks contradict each other. but hey, it's just a fun series so it doesn't really matter as long as the episode was good

@@Mag1cA I don't think the book thing was fair at all. All advantage is in one direction. It's super easy to avoid it if you know about it, but impossible if you don't. And that's not even counting the contradiction of Etho's task.

I think it’s a reference to stories about a cursed monkey paw where each time you make a wish one finger curls closed (when all fingers are closed you’re out of wishes). The curse is that every wish will be granted in a way that’s worse than if you’d never made it. It appeared in an episode of The Simpsons, Lisa Simpson wished for world peace using the monkey’s paw, so all nations of the Earth relinquished their weapons. However, aliens looking down saw that the Earth was now defenceless as a result; so they invaded and enslaved the planet. I’m pretty sure this story warning about being beware of what you wish for was stolen from a different culture, with shows like The Simpsons making it well known to English speakers in the western world.

@@-randomuser-4897like the other commenter said, it’s in reference to a story called “The Monkey’s Paw”. It grants wishes, but at a (usually very grave) price. For example, in the story, the family wished for more money, but they got the money as reparations from their son dying at work. so in this case, i think what the original comment meant is that bdubs asking for a slightly longer video caused this one to be almost an entire hour long lol

This is the best and weirdest Etho episode I have ever seen. My only disappointment is that I wish Etho acted like bdubs more. When he was nailing the Bdubs impression it was amazing. I had never internalized how much of a weirdo bdubs is with his mannerisms until Etho started awkwardly reciting them lmao. Oh my gorsh they took it to another level when it became a cult. Scott joining in was so unexpected and beautiful.
