Well she isn't that time but I figured that being in the same room as them/around them a lot and doing things helps them get used to you, and in the morning I sat with them while feeding them some peaflakes and salad! So they'd know I bring them food, this way I was at least able to eat out of my hand and come to me when I sit next to the cage. But I strongly believe that every pig is different!! One of mine likes coming to me and complaining, while the other prefers to sit in the back.

The taming diary gave me an idea to make a diary for my guinea pigs kinda like a diary for humans but instead of writing my day I write down theirs XD for example when I get a New Guinea pig and it’s that guinea pigs diary it’s like Dear Diary, today I was brought in a dark box with a few tiny holes to somewhere mysterious... I was put in a big cage by a human I’ve never met before. The human was so scary! Hopefully this is only temporary. And then a day when we actually build a bond: Dear Guinea Pig Diary, I GOT EXTRA PEA FLAKES TODAYYYYYYYYYYYY!

Guinea Pig in german is written: "Meerschwein" It is a combination of two words: "Meer" means (the) sea, "Schwein" means pig. Because they are the piggies that came to us over the sea (with ships). 😊 How to pronounce it: The 'Meer' part sounds like "air" but with an M at the beginning. (mair) The 'Schwein' part sounds like "swine" but with a 'sh' (from 'shine' or 'shoe') at the beginning.(shwine) Try to pronounce it combined: "Mair-shwine" 😊 👍

I have 6 very handsome boys: Alexander (he was born with a natural mohawk!); Takato (my beautiful fat boy with eyes that melt your heart; Malfoy (my other fat, handsome guy has the coolest personality of them all. My first three guinea pigs were the tamest little creatures you could imagine. Two of my other guinea pigs (I got them about 8 months ago) are still shy in spite of my efforts. But that's okay. It's also important to accept them the way they are and give them time if they need it :)

We had two guinea pigs for 7 years. They were the sweetest little things. For all those 7 years they would run when we put our hands in the cage but when we put our hand under them the just melted. We would hold them on our laps or tummy and the would spread their body on us while we pet them. We had a male and a female and the female liked to be petted except the top of her head. She would throw her head back hard like not the hairdo. It was a wonderful experience.

our 2 that we have had for a couple of months (got from the store so they are still very young) are more than happy to have food from the hand (and appear to love it) and tend to allow petting of cheeks, chins or the nose... as soon as we go further up to the top of their heads or towards their backs... they scarper... oh and both of ours have learnt that putting their front paws on the food bowl and making noises tends to involve more food appearing unless the bowl is full (of their less than favourite vegies)

awe I love your herd. for me taming was so diffrent for my piggies one of them would be a little shy and run to hide if you approached her but she was okay with being pet after she approached me, and my other piggie is the most tame pig ever shes always climbing all over me and loves to be pet. It really surprised me when she let me pet her whilst she was sleeping and often licks my finger whilst I pet her chin she loves it. the difference between my guinea pigs personalities is so funny seeing as they have always been together. also the time difference one took me around two months to gain her full trust and the other took a few months longer all I did was hand feed them every morning its all about patience (and pea flakes).

Just an FYI, if you're interested. I'm not sure about Europe, but in the USA, according to ABRA, there is no albino in guinea pigs like you have with some other rodents. Just because they are white with red eyes, does not classify them as albino. Also, according to ABRA, she would be a Teddy breed of guinea pig. This may officially be called a Rex in Europe, though.

My piggies would jump that little gate so easily! They love to jump up on top of the “house” I have in their cage, and it’s taller than that! They also wheek every time someone is on the stairs outside my apartment because my friend looked after them for a few weeks while I was out of town and now they associate the sound of someone on the stairs with food 😂
