You would be surprised the amount of people that just assume marvel started everything. I just yesterday had an argument with a self professed superfan, i told him that if it wasnt for the justice league there would have been no fantastic four, then avengers.... He literally called me a liar, i just had to laugh and walk away. Theres ALOT of these people.... you also wouldnt believe the amount of people that think marvel had the first captain marvel LOL

I really hope WB get their act together with the DC movies. There's so much mythic potential in them, it's certainly a different feel than Marvel (which is cool, too, but I always felt closer to DC characters) and I'm not sure the lighthearted tone fits them even if it has massive appeal. There has been exceptions such as Shazam! (which btw had also darkness and heart), but more often than not they should feel mythical & larger than life. P.S: Please don't give Superman to J.J. Abrams.

Marvel heroes are defined by their flaws. They have virtues, but their flaws are why we read the stories. To me, DC is at its best when it's the opposite. DC heroes are defined by their virtues. They have flaws, but the virtues should be why we read.

I'm not sure I agree with this statement. Green Arrow, Batman, and Roy Harper are characters whose flaws overshadow their goodness much of the time. Those are just three that I can think of off the top of my head. Raven is another one.

While it doesn't fit every character, someone once told me that DC heroes are heroes we look up to, while Marvel heroes are heroes we relate to.
@thegreatrobin2329
@thegreatrobin2329 3 жыл бұрын
MrRoMaGi I like to think that as well. When it comes to DC’s characters the likes of Batman, Superman, the Flash, Wonder Woman, etc., gives off a sorta mythical and legendary status towards them like the Greek/Roman gods. However with Marvel characters, it heavily relies more on personal sympathy and sometimes even empathy towards the viewer; you expect heroes such as Thor, Captain America, the Fantastic Four, or the X-Men to be more distant and grandiose due to their power and influence but they are usually portrayed in the opposite by showing how easily they can be beaten down. Spider-Man is easily the best example of a character anybody can relate to.

As a neutral fan of both Marvel and Dc Say what you have to say people dc got the most amazing, badass, finest characters in the history of superheroes and its something that some people won't understand or don't want to understand no no no I REPEAT AGAIN no one can touch dc in the comics and animation cartoon and movies and even dc have movies like The Batman, Christopher Nolan's dark knight trilogy, superman returns, man of steel, batman v Superman, wonder Woman, Shazam, Aquaman, Watchman And dc Got this amazing future with Wonder Woman 1984, Zack Snyder's Justice League, The Suicide Squad, The Batman, Black Adam, The Flash, Shazam 2, Aquaman 2. Man with this slate dc will be on fire in the future. 10s decade marvel rules with amazing movies but mark my words this 20s decade dc rules

I am not an American , but DC comics played a great role during my childhood and teenage years. They were expensive but we had shops where we could buy secondhand and then could exchange them too. such a great recount of modern mythology. So much spotlight on stories and energies and their creators who have one way or the other, influenced all of our lives. an emotional rollercoaster. but oh MAN I wanted to reach in and hug her at about 1:15:00. I really wanted to scoff at the emotion for a fictional character.......but I had exactly the same emotion back when that issue came out.......and every single time it's discussed since then......and especially feeling it from the POV of someone in the business of storytelling who regularly conjures imagery to elicit an emotional or sensational response! Artists see in 3...maybe 4 dimensions the EVENT they're expressing! She went all the way back to SMALLVILLE 1991 in that moment. I won't even tell you guys how I had to wipe a tear or two.....or 5..at this moment.

My old roommate from 20 years ago was the biggest comic collector I ever knew in person. He owned a fortune, each protected in a transparent sleeve, keeping his collection up to date with excel lists, he printed out to label the boxes. Of course, he spent lots of time in the only comic book store we had. I was fascinated, trying to understand more of that passion which he devoted so much time and money. I came to find it reflected so much about our world as we know it, and the world we desire to create, really. I liked Batman more, I am more of the sinister stuff, the Joker is a character that has enormous impact on all sorts of villain characters throughout the movie business as well as the writing business. Hard to find a character is more wag and deep down bad-crazy and sadistic than him. Shakespeare would have loved him, I am sure. This is one of the most essentials chapters of cultural as well as social education, for all those who like to investigate how creativity plays a part in human society.
