Lying is probably the worst thing one can do in any relationship because it's a double edged sword. 1) you're betraying the trust of the person you're lying to. 2) you're assuming that person is dumb enough to believe it. Now you’ve managed to judge, belittle, betray, confuse and disrespect them all in one fell swoop. Leaving a mess of confusing emotions behind when you walk away thinking you've gotten away with it. Everything comes to light eventually.

13 minutes in and I now know why having conversations with people are so difficult these days. We have no patience with each other’s story. People sometimes cut me off and change the subject even if I’m answering their question. It’s very frustrating, I’m at the point of where I either give short abrupt answers and move on or just opt out of the conversation altogether. Having an honest long conversation without being insulted or gaslighted for your opinions or ideas is a thing of the past.

Sorry you have to go through stuff like this, unfortunately, I know a lot of people like you described, this is what I've learned to do. I finish what I was saying, even if I have to talk over them. And I don't outwardly acknowledge their new topics, I stay on their original topic and when I'm good and ready, I'll steer us to their second, third and forth topics.

“One day a man named Truth and a man named Lie stood by a river just outside of town. They were twin brothers. Lie challenged Truth to a race, claiming he could swim across the river faster than Truth. Lie laid out the rules to the challenge stating that they both must remove all their clothes and at the count of 3, dive in to the freezing cold water swim to the other side and back. Lie counted to 3, but when Truth jumped in, Lie did not. As Truth swam across the river, Lie put on Truth’s clothes and walked back in to town dressed as Truth. He proudly paraded around town pretending to be Truth. Truth made it back to shore, but his clothes were gone and he was left naked with only Lie’s clothes to wear. Refusing to dress himself as Lie, Truth walked back to town naked. People stared and glared as naked Truth walked through town. He tried to explain what happened and that he was in fact Truth, but because he was naked and uncomfortable to look at, people mocked and shunned him; refusing to believe he was really Truth. The people in town chose to believe Lie because he was dressed appropriately and easier to look at. From that day until this, people have come to believe a lie rather than they believe the naked truth.”

Here in South Africa we had a phenomenal detective named Piet Byleveld. He had a 99% success rate because he treated his suspects with utmost respect - shook hands with them, always wore a suit and tie, was never aggressive or intimidating etc. Result was they would take him into their confidence and ultimately confess, and these were serial killers who had committed the most terrible crimes. that is SOMETIMES true...and sometimes *lying* has saved one's *own* life and/or the lives of others. as *circumstantial & situational ethics* are not only about nebulous concepts that no one has ever had to consider in *real life* situations - but they can be VERY real ideas that must be made use of. esp., in *socio-politically unstable places and other kinds of dangerous places,* ALL over the world.* some people have had to tell untruths or have had to *omit* the truth, in order to survive and/or in order to save the lives of their very own families, in fact. and it's far too easy for some of us to get caught up into being biased about what is moral and what isn't, per our *own,* limited life experiences. esp., when juxtaposed against certain conditions & risks that many millions of others have experienced, who are from all around the globe. and no egoic need for oneself or for others to 'be right' is worth risking one's own life, esp., when it involves ALSO risking the lives of innocent others.

There is nuance there tho. She isn’t speaking on unsafe situations. She is speaking on regular interpersonal interactions. As an adult, just saying no can leave negative consequences. I don’t think children are fully in a place to completely vocalize their reasoning for no so it makes sense for a 8 year old or child. But as an adult that skill should evolve to know situationally when “no” is enough and when a rejection deserves more than a “no”.

First, learn the methods sociopaths use to gain your trust and at least some body language. That will help your intuition determine the truth. Also, get people to talk about themselves enthusiastically, that is the one way you can get to see and know them for real. Pay attention to everything because everything they say, every gesture they make and every expression they take means something, and your intuition needs to learn that language and properly interpret it. Too many people don't do this and their intuition leads them wrong because sociopaths exist and they do their best to mimic appropriate tells. But mimicry is seldom perfect and no one can mimic anyone else perfectly.

Some cultures are like that. The person who tells you what they think you want to hear is maddening. Believe your gut. It is a waste of your time. I just had a false friend give my private personal life write-up to a group of attorneys after...he showed it to two other people and wouldn't tell me any of the parties for 'my' protection. That betrayal and bs ended our friendship immediately. Shocking. After explicit instructions not to share my writing with anyone. Knowing he had done this 5 years before and enjoyed my support the whole time was the absolute end. Deception. Disrespect. For his convenience. When someone then refuses to be honest after years, they are pathologically ethically undeveloped.

@@freedomforever1962 Well, people lie to themselves. Denial. They don't have to tell all, because they don't owe that to everyone. We have filters and boundaries. But we can avoid and avert confrontation if someone we don't know presses us. "I won't talk about that.." But fundamental lying. Everyone? I know as teenagers for instance, we can tell parents we are doing one thing and do another, to explore life. There are persons who don't deserve our total honesty or loyalty, but to lie to deceive or omit truth which harms another can become pathological. Heavy on the path. Situations involving safety or survival are also possible to deviate or avoid, but character is built from simple choices in everyday life. I had parents that made me want to avoid dishonesty. My Dad used the term 'embellish' while my mother simply chose not to deal with things. Ie: loyalty to family might involve silence or denial. I always thought good mental health came from seeing life as it is, instead of acrobatics and denial. You live with self 24/7. Shouldn't we like ourselves? But truthtellers are not popular. Anyway it's a primary experience as most of us grow up perhaps... the kind of awareness people get when they don't want to be like their parents, at least in some ways. We strike out on our own. But the truth is, no person has the same life and experiences to mold their presentation in life, and even with similar experiences, the results can be quite different, according to personality, support, etc. Just thoughts.

1. Do the right thing no matter what 2. Make your own decisions. 3. Fail as much as possible (you're putting yourself out there by doing the work even if you fail) - this goes back to what she said about getting out of your comfort zone. When she spoke on her mother's mentality as to why she wouldn't understand I can totally relate to that. As the same when she said either you're going to get fearful or angry. I can honestly say I got angry and my belief in myself grew stronger although others seen my strength as being stubborn but it's to the point that it doesn't matter if I'm misunderstood/what others thoughts and opinions are I know where my anger stem from - poverty mentality/family generational chains. So I have stepped out of my comfort zone and am planted and doing something abt the root of my anger. All I heard was it's not time and you have to crawl before you walk and I was like crawl for how long before you walk and how long must I walk before I climb. I had to step out from under that. Did it make ppl look at me in a negative way? Yes were there criticisms? Yes. Were there struggles? Heck yes but what is in me wants to come forth. So if I have to walk it alone so be it.

The reason why we broke out in February was because we had news of Tesla buying $ 1.5 billion worth of Bitcoin, which served as a major catalyst in further creating new all-time highs. Up until that point, we were on a downward trend and eventually trading sideways, like we're seeing now. It wasn't a technical breakout that drove Bitcoin to new highs in February, it was more fundamental news of adoption by major institutions. We need to see more of that if we're going to repeat the growth that we saw last month. Until then, I have a feeling that we're going to be trading down and sideways, looking at the current situation I would suggest tredlnq with Daniel Wright to.make more gains from all this as I have made over 8btc in just 3 waeks of trading with hlm, here are his details on Tel- gram ( @Danielwrightfx) for his assistance on strictly crypto related....

@@andratoma9834 When a person is stressed they will return to habits that are natural to them. Habits of origin become their baseline. Stress does not indicate guilt. It is a natural reaction when they are being questioned by authority. In that moment of anxiety.... the current culture they are living in has absolutely nothing to do with their habits of origin. Flip the tables. If you were in Asia and were called in for questioning then your natural habit of origin would be to look the investigator in the eye. If that Investigator is not trained properly then they could completely miss your habits of origin and instead read you by their own culture which would me that they list you as confrontational.

Yes. I liked that, too. But I think what I liked best about her was showing she was just like us, like capable of using curse words like us. Because at first glance, and after she had said a few words I actually thought she just looked like a person who had it all together, having not a problem in the world. Until she went deeper into her conversation, and you know she's been through some stuff. And there's no telling the horrific scenes her eyes have seen. She say she don't take her work home with her, but things she's seen has brought a great deal of wisdom, to her eyes, and they are just beautiful. They say the eyes are the mirror, of your soul, and her's shine through. For her to have gone through things, and come through it sounding genuine, truthful is what some call a realist. My kind of people. Reason why I said I liked best to see she was like us, is because it humanizes her. I recently began breaking a habit of putting people I admire, on a pedestal, like being starstruck when I see them. For one thing, they don't want people looking starstruck at them, they want to be treated like normal people shop in regular stores, and not be bugged by fans wanting autographs, and the other thing is you be more comfortable yourself,.being in the presence of these people, once you take the stars out your eyes. I use to do this with a good minister, thought he was perfect, and sinless, but then he told us of a few things bad, he did as a child, like stealing candy out a store. It was actually funny, and everyone laughed including me, but what it also did, for me, was humanize him, he was just like us, with same faults we have. Then I realized, for years I had been putting stars, on a pedestal, so I ceased from doing that. Because just because they look picture perfect, on screen, they are still just human beings, and treat them so. Sorry for this long comment. This is like therapy, for me, writing out my confessions. Hope I didn't bore you.✌🏽

When she points out how someone saying during a lie detection test, "Absolutely not" instead of how they were saying "No" (basically deviating from their baseline) reminded me of Jim Clemente (former FBI profiler) saying, "When you're telling facts, you simply have to state them. When you're telling a lie, you have to convince the person that what you are about to say is true." Saying "absolutely" is definitely an attempt to convince someone that the word that follows, is true.

Awesome interview, thank you for sharing. I can spot liars a mile away. However, most people who are highly intuitive learned from childhood abuse or any abuse they experienced as I did. You start noticing people’s moods so that you know if you can be around them or not. Yes, when you are told to be quiet and are not allowed to speak over and over you learn to watch and observe people very well and letting people speak first and watch their manuerisms of everything. So easy to notice their mannerisms after watching and observing. It does take a while to learn their ways but after many years or decades you can spot them so fast. Just need to learn self confidence in your intuitive abilities. Your gut will never lie to you.

I wouldn't be scared of nobody. Lol. But the good thing about Evy, is her toughness is so equally contained, she know when to use it, and how to use it, and don't abuse it. She's a very good teacher.

Although her father taught her to never feel like a victim I don't believe there is anything wrong with expressing an emotion like sadness with tears for someone you love and respect that is not going to be in your life anymore. Practically everyone lies. But as kids, we're always taught not to lie. But still we see and hear adults lie all the time. No wonder we get uncomfortable about lying. There's a huge internal conflict and feelings of guilt, at least for a typical honest, responsible person. For some people lying comes much more naturally, especially if they're not emotionally invested, or feel any guilt about it. But the important thing is what you lie about; do you lie to protect someone's feelings, or for not revealing something private or compromising about someone. Or do you lie for your own benefit or for escaping your responsibilities. Do you lie to commit or hide a crime, do you lie to disguise another lie, or do you lie for some greater good? Sometimes absolute honesty can be just as hurtful or damaging as lying. Usually being honest can hurt you or someone else in the moment; but if you're caught lying, that can come back and haunt you later, hurting many times over. So, honesty and lying are both tools, and we have to pick the right tool for the right thing at the right time.

A friend of mine joked the other day about how our parents always told us when growing up to never lie but once we graduated college they both told us to lie about stuff on our resumes to get jobs. We both jokingly said basically they were telling us "Lying to us is bad and disrespectful but feel free to lie to other people to benefit yourself."

How does one learn to lie.... It is the parents that teach their sons and daughters by telling them lies from the day their sons and daughters start to talk. Then the So-called education system i.e. indoctrination system tells students lies starting on their first day at school. It becomes classical conditioning of the mind, as Pavlov and Skinner knew about. As well as more currently Professor Benjamin Bloom, a behavioral psychologist.

That was an amazing interview. Thank You, Evy and Lewis. I connected with so many things in this interview, and the depth of Evy's replies are quite remarkable, considering how "plastic" things have become in our society. I have always been the guy who goes left when others go right, back when others go forward, and vice versa. I am only now, at 54 years of age, beginning to own the fact that this does not necessarily mean I'm wrong, although that is obviously sometimes true. Whether or not I can turn my experiences and knowledge into something to help other people, remains to be seen. I'm trying to figure out my path forward in that regard, but that is my goal.
