BB guns and pellet rifles don’t make sounds like that and most aren’t semi automatic. The transfer of energy depends on the ballistics of the round being fired. Just because the damage looks minor does not mean it wasn’t a large caliber round. This is scary and I pray for all involved. No matter your political leaning this should open your eyes.
