What a great idea! I’ve been messing with this roll of contact paper all morning. I have found so many excuses to walk away, and do something else. I guess I was hoping to get a new perspective. NOW I’ll FINALLY get these shelves done, and get everything off the floor and countertops and back into the cabinets. Thanks so much!

Use a piece of tape on both sides to get it to peel back 😉

So are you basically saying I don't need to peel the entire sheet of contact paper off I only need to unpeel that small square

Not a small square, but only about 2 or 3 inches all the way around the perimeter of your contact paper. This will leave the entire middle of your contact paper unpeeled. Hey, it works for me. :)
