It’s October 2023 and Secretariat still holds all his records. To me he also holds the records of the most handsome, the smartest, with personality and charisma. How can you beat it?

I’m adding this comment in 2023 and we have not seen anyone break secretariat records in 50 years. God gave us one horse like that, and probably never ever ever will again.

Like all said here. Probably never see another like him. All were in shock. Leaves no doubt we have seen the greatest thoroughbred of all times.

WOW!!!! What a class act everyone was during this time! The broadcast, the "horse families"... the whole thing. A whole different era! This was soooo unbelievable! WHEW!

Jack Whitaker at 0:37 said, "You may not see another one in your lifetime," in speaking about how dominating and amazing Secretariat's performances were. So true, we still haven't.

I remember watching this on TV back on 1973 and crying! I will always remember Secretariat and the triple crown races that he ran and the 1980 Hockey Team beating the USSR! For me the two greatest sports moments in history that I watched and loved! Thanks for the memories Big Red!

Love all three videos - I have seen them 4 times. I cry everytime. Love this horse. He's the reason I love horse racing and continue to be a fan. Can't wait for the movie. Thank you!!! :)

What they don't talk about much is that this wasn't Secretariat's last race or his last win. He went on to win several more races, most notably the Woodbine in Canada, that one was a thrill and the video is on here somewhere, make sure you see it.

far more glorious than a tremendous machine, because he was heart, flesh and spirit. this race was a hammer. sorry he had to blow up Sham and the rest of the field, but what can you do when you are the real deal of greatness? be great.

yep. He never ran a race a long enough distance to even start to tire him out. The pace he was going at the Belmont finsh line,he would have broken the 1 3/4 mile world record.

the only time I cried over a "sports" figures death was when big Red had to be put down...the guys in my fraternity just let me be for a week as we watched the KY Derby and this race over and over all week...he was magnificent...once in a lifetime...

@shazaz2122 What a memory! I own a great granddaughter of both Secratriate and Northern Dancer. Penny is my hero and role model. We are breeding my girl to a son of Gallant Man. I hope to see another triple crown before I die.

Like they all said here. We probably never see one like him again. There was no other horse like him before or since. Nack said we might see another Native Dancer or Affirmed in our lifetime. I even doubt that.
