I was young when he ran all his races but I still remember how people talked about the horse that God made. He was a horse that brought this country something good to think about instead of the war. I remember he was on all the covers of magnize at our house. Mom showed his picture off and told me to always be a believer in people and animals. We all need his sprit everyday. We all learned from a horse/and his owner. Love and peace always..

I was young when this horse that NOBODY wanted except 1 lady. A housewife fought for this horse and right from wrong. This horse brought a country together again. You must remember the times - all the hate with the war, and many more hateful things - love changed the world. With God's help they made it thru all the trials and won the triple crown. They beat the odds and so can we.

Penny Tweedy said that’s what Lucien was actually shouting. That was the only thing that would’ve caused them to lose at that point lol.
@silverpurkat4 жыл бұрын
I knew of a trainer now retired and in his 80s tell us that story of being at the race and he was two boxes over and what Lucien actually said was “Ronnie, don’t fucking fall off!” and everyone laughed. Which is why it was memorable statement and obviously Disney would had to kind of edit that out. He also has a picture of secretariat with both Lucien and Ronnie’s signature on it. So I would believe him especially when Disney did portray Lucien as a colorful very opinionated character in the movie. 🙂

His heart was estimated to be 10kg. Sham's was 8kg and we know how any lengths behind he finished. Sham would have been a legend in any other era, he stillbroke the record in the Kentucky Derby and finished second. Phar Lap's heart is in the Canberra Museum and is 6.5kg, still twice the size of the average horse heart. Secretariat wasn't a horse, he was a 'Tremendous Machine"!

I was sitting next to Penny & crew when I was just 12 years old. I remember her being mad at the jockey for running him to hard. She was really mad in the stands. Ronnie never brought out the whip or tried to get Secretariat to run that fast. I got to go to the after party & heard her yelling at Ronnie about it. But at the end she realized it was the horse that wanted to run like that. Ronnie said he was not even tired hence running for another 1/2 lap after he finished.

Several horses were used to depict Secretariat in the film, chief among them Trolley Boy, whose great-great-grandsire was the real-life Secretariat, and Longshot Max, whose bloodline includes Secretariat's sire, Bold Ruler, as well as his grandsire, Princequillo.
