On this day 41 years ago (March 30,1970) at 10 minutes past midnight, the greatest racehorse that ever lived was born in a little shed off route 30 in Caroline Count Virginia.
This past weekend the Meadow Event Park was the site of a celebration that included the famed Penny Chenery, and her daughter and author (along with Leeanne Ladin) of the book "Secretariat's Meadow, the Land, the Family,
the Legend".

Also on hand was Harbor Mist and his trainer Rex Peterson. Harbor Mist played one of the "Secretariats" in the recent Disney film, along with Secretariat's dam Somethingroyal.
Cake and a Secretariat "look alike" contest topped off the celebration, along with plenty of autograph signing by Penny Chenery and the former grooms and handlers who cared for the great horse as a baby.
