New series idea: rebuild. Teams that were once a laughing stock of their league that evolved into a championship team for many years. One team is the Tampa bay lightning, they were once the worst team in the nhl and are now one of the most dominant teams in the entire league for the past nearly decade
@beane104 жыл бұрын
I also like the series idea “Hopeless” where teams like the Eagles and Chiefs who’ve been good and sometimes had the best team in the league and always find a way to fail in the most heartbreaking fashion, until the day they finally breakthrough. Maybe it should be called “Breakthrough” now that I think about it. There are other teams that fit that narrative. As a Chiefs season ticket holder since 1996, at 38 yrs old, I’ve known 35 yrs of gut-wrenching heartbreak and endless hope living side by side. Until 2017 when we drafted Mahomes, and all of that misery, or Missery as we say in Kansas City, MO. Thoughts?

Same here Doom, I got it with the Royals in 2015 and the Chiefs in February. The chiefs journey was much more painful during the bad times and it was a lot further in the past since the last SB we’d won in 1970, Royals had won a WS in ‘85 but 30 yrs was plenty painful also. You had the most magical triumph of any fanbase Doom, and I’m so glad the royals had just won a ring becuz I was able to enjoy the cubbies win with genuine excitement for a deserving fanbase instead of bitterness and jealousy. Plus y’all had Benny Z after he’d been the key to our offense, what a winner he was man. The Red Sox had a pretty sweet triumph as well. Goddamn, I love sports.

A very accurate and detailed story of my Orlando Magic fan life in two collapse videos. The local media drove our superstars away, oddly enough. The poll about how much Shaq is worth was dominated by non sports fans and the "Dwightmare" campaign was driven by sports analysts who thought we should trade for Andrew Bynum. We now have our 4th number one pick, so hopefully Bancero can turn us back to championship contenders soon if we can get some 3 point shooters for him.

JJ Redick’s career is soooo fascinating: he played at Duke, but he never thought he’d aspire to be a star, just a ‘shooter’. He’s been on the supporting cast of some truly great teams, these Magic, the Clippers with Chris Paul and Blake Griffen, the good part of the ‘process’ with Philly, and now he’s in a lineup with Zion. His ego didn’t let him think he’d have to carry a team, and because of that, he’s major underrated piece to a lot of these contending teams. We’ll see if New Orleans will contend for a title with him still on the roster, but I have no reason to think it won’t happen.

The way he embraced his position and using the skill sets he did have to best help his team was wise on his part and demonstrated a healthy level of self awareness on his part. He could have demanded to be a higher level guy and been out of the league fairly quickly. Instead he embraced the role he was provided and did the most he could in those roles in the teams he was on and ended up having a fifteen year career and made roughly $116M in his career from NBA.pay. And now he has smoothly transitioned into being an analyst on ESPN now. A good example of making the best of what’s available to you even if maybe as your dream once was being the guy and not letting that deter you like you see from some guys.

If the Magic organization just opened their wallet, look at what our starting lineup could've looked like: PG: Jameer Nelson SG: Vince Carter SF: Hedo Turkoglu/Rashard Lewis PF: Rashard Lewis/Hedo Turkoglu C; Dwight Howard Dec. 18, 2010 is the day it all came crashing down. Based on the Magic players recollection (JJ discussed this himself in his own podcast), the main reason the Magic lost to Boston in the ECF was the coaching blunder of SVG *even before the series started.* Even though the Magic was solid heading to the ECF, SVG suddenly decided to make major adjustments for the Celtics series *even before the series started.* Remember what Shaq said about SVG? He was a good strategist BUT he had a tendency to get nervous, overthink, and make bad decisions. That "dark side" of SVG showed up during the Magic-Celtics ECF.

Suggestion: Beef history: Lebron James vs Paul Pierce
@fredleeland24644 жыл бұрын
That wasnt really beef, just one sided Paul Pierce battles until Lebron went to the Heat...I was a huge Lebron fan in 2008 and I gotta admit Pierce was Lebrons dad at the time
@perhaps94604 жыл бұрын
@@fredleeland2464 yeah lebron doesn’t really beef with anybody tbh. Closest one you could say is with lance Stephenson but just like Paul pierce, it’s very one sided and lebron doesn’t really talk about them

Watching their newest video of the Shaq and Penny magic collapse and then queueing this up afterward is hilarious. Genuinely picks up right where the Shaq/Penny video left off. Just 20 years of constant failure
@tykemorris2 жыл бұрын
More like 30 years but there are teams who have never made it to the finals. There are 29 failures every year and the same teams tend to dominate a lot, like the Warriors, the Celtics, the Lakers, the Spurs and the 90's Bulls. Being a Magic fan is a roller coaster, not constant. I wouldn't trade those 30 years for half the league.

Back in the 1990s, they could of had a dynasty with Shaq and Penny. But the front office made some really DUMB decisions; (not resigning Shaq, not taking Penny's knee injury seriously, not firing Brian Hill after getting swept by Houston) that put the franchise back for several years.

The Magic have been exceedingly lucky for such a young franchise. A good chunk of their existence has been them contending. With that said, the last 10 years of the Magic has been the universe reverting them to the average NBA franchise.

I agree. I have thought of as far back as the 1970s Baltimore Colts (two collapses, actually) and the 1960s Yankees. There would be some footage difficulties, but I do not see it as too tough.

God or whoever gave you a third chance. You have a WILD young core. Yes Franz and Jalen choked hard last week but don't let last game syndrome take over. The Banchero/Wagner/Suggs core probably the best development core in the bloody league

As a Magic fan, I like to think things worked out long term with the Dwight trade with getting Fournier and Vuc. Damn I miss those two and Aaron Gordon SO MUCH!! But our new young core going into 2023 is so fun and exciting. Fultz. Franz. Cole. Suggs. Banchero. Bamba. T-Ross (for now). Carter. They were so much fun to watch last season, it even made losing fun (won only 22 games). Got my League Pass bought and paid for, and I am SO READY for this season. GO MAGIC!!!

Rushing the rebuild for a desperate Playoff spot will forever be the darkest moment for me as a fan. Trading Oladipo and a lottery pick (just so happened to be an the all-star, Sabonis 🙂) for a half season of Ibaka while ditching Harris for capspace only to waste money on Bismack. Years of hope wasted because of the lack of patience. I'm glad they are in a better position nowadays but I hope the young guys can develop and hopefully improve to be more than an average 7th or 8th seed team.
