This game could’ve broken wide open in either direction. Each team has made its share of mistakes, but never enough to kill hope in this moment. For Dallas, the hope is they’ve finally assembled a team that’s complete enough to compete when it matters most. With New York, if they hang on here, it can be the start they need to find stability.
And for 9 and 82, tonight marks their 13th year together, it’s the first step towards changing their legacies, and it’s a chance to maybe do their thing once again. Welcome to a moment in history.

I miss Romo so much, he was and always will be my favorite player. He took so much hate from everyone including Cowboys fans when he was literally the only reason the Cowboys were decent or good. He carried the Cowboys on his back for years. People love to say he was a choke artist yet obviously never watched all the games he won in clutch fashion just like this one. From 2006-2014 (years Romo was mostly healthy and played) he had more game winning drives than Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and Big Ben. He also had some of the absolute worst defenses in NFL history as well as terrible offensive lines (which is why they finally drafted him one and the Cowboys were able to make a run in 2014). If you gave Romo the Cowboys teams Dak has had during his career, Romo would probably have a Superbowl ring (especially with the defense the Cowboys have now). He made mediocre or bad receivers look good and was one of the best scramblers ever. Romo was like a magician, I’ll never forget that spin move on prime JJ Watt ending in a TD bomb. Dude was running for his life so many years he would make plays out of nothing. Romo deserved better and in my opinion is the best QB in DAL history.

Seriously? You made this game a rewinder video? Dallas finished 4-12 and this was their only home win of the year. The Giants finished 6-10 and both teams missed the playoffs. This is a meaningless game in hindsight. Even the next year both teams got bounced in their opening playoff game. The Giants have sucked outside of a playoff win over a fluky and unsustainable Vikings team since their last Super Bowl win. The Cowboys are, well, the Cowboys. They have been a constant letdown since the mid 90’s but the media loves to play them up on a yearly basis. There are so many better games to have picked. Maybe it’s recency bias but the entries 2021 NFL playoff games from the divisional round to the Super Bowl could have been done. Secret Base is the best sports channel on KZbin and I normally love these rewinder videos but why they made this game a video is a mystery to me.

In spite of Romo’s (entirely unfair) reputation as a “choker”, I always felt safe with the ball in his hands at the end of the game. Off the top of my head, I can only think of three games that ended with a Romo int: 2007 NFC divisional (desperation throw), 2011 vs Jets (legit bad throw), 2013 vs Broncos (got stepped on by his O-Line). And yet, you’d think every Cowboys loss was caused single-handedly by a Romo pick six the way the haters talked about him. The truth is Romo saved the cowboys so many times that he effectively made those 8-8 teams into contenders all by himself. The 2015 comeback against the Giants was yet another signature moment from a great QB, and it was poetic that it came on a bobbled snap, the same thing that started all the choker talk in 2006. Everything had come full circle, this was the year. As it turned out, it was his last hurrah... I still think about what 2015 and 2016 could’ve been with Romo at the helm. Those teams were tailor-made for him, made to build off the success of 2014. Add a super bowl ring to the team records he holds, and he’d easily be in the conversation as the greatest Cowboys QB of all time. From an undrafted kid that no one wanted to a World Champion. It could’ve happened. Sigh…

If jason Witten played in Arizona or Jacksonville,... or really,..... anywhere except Dallas. He's not a 1st ballot hall of famer. But because of the cowboy brand and the constant exposure, he will be 1st ballot. Will Ben Watson get in?? ..... no..... will Mercedes Lewis? No. Those guys played forever too. Had great leadership skills. Hard nosed. Great TEs. But you could have switched out both of those guys with Witten and they probably would have better numbers. Then again Witten did get stuck with Dak at the end of his career.

Ultimately this moment didn't culminate into anything. Romo got hurt the next game, the cowboys stumbled to a 4-12 record, drafted Ezekiel Elliot in the first round, and Dak Prescott in the fourth. Romo got hurt again in the preseason and Dak hasn't let go of the reigns yet. Since 2015 the Cowboys have had just 1 losing season under Dak Prescott, yet no divisional round wins

This drive just felt different, I remember it like yesterday. For years before, as a Cowboys fan, you didn’t always know how the game would end. Romo wasn’t as bad in the clutch as the narrative around him suggested, but he did have some high profile mistakes. But this drive, you could just tell they were going to win. Romo looked honestly as comfortable & confident as he ever had. I really think he was gonna hit another level at this point. That line was just too good for him not to. Sucks his career ended after the next game. Him with rookie Zeke woulda been incredible. Still think they shoulda went to him & benched Dak that year.

am I missing something? why does this deserve a rewind? a meaningless regular season opener. you should've done the one where JPP blocked the dallas fg in 2011 that sent the giants to the playoffs to win Superbowl 46. A very common secret base L.

Bruh that’s totally a catch lol don’t know what u smokin. Catch made, ball secured on way down with no movement, dislodged by contact with the ground. Never seen this before that I can recall - but that’s a c-a-t-c-h. EDIT: I’m gonna guess they said the ball itself hit the ground. I can definitely see how there would not be enough evidence to overturn whatever the original call was, but at least from that angle you can’t say for sure

As a (non-rabid) Giants fan, I felt genuinely okay with how this one ended. Hell, they earned it. Plus, ya know, they haven't hoisted a trophy since the '90s. Let 'em have some fun.

As an Eagles fan, there is no good result when these two teams are playing. Speaking of Eagles, what made Donovan McNabb finish his career Untitled?

I think Manziel to Dallas would have been a good idea - Johnny could have sat behind Tony Romo one or two seasons and matured a little. Had the spotlight off of him. But as an Eagles fan, I'm glad it worked out the way it did.

i always felt bad for romo, if had a better defense or at minimum at mediocre o-line, he possibly could've done something anyway, Dez caught it.

Literally why did this need a deep rewind? The cowboys were trash before this game, trash after this game, and will always be trash. Also how are we gonna talk about the giants like it's been forever when they won a super bowl at that point, when the cowboys haven't even made it past the divisional round since the 90s. Someone at secret base is a cowboys homer.

Didn't the two teams go a combined 10-22 that year? Which would render this game utterly meaningless.

Giants blew that game. Third down at the goal line you run it. If you get stuffed you draw the whole clock out and go for it. If you don’t get it Cowboys are at the 1 with little time
