I've eaten these on several occasions because I live in South Florida and I've lost count of how many hurricanes I've been through. When you're without power for days, sometimes weeks having this stuff on hand is essential. You don't have to worry about storage or keeping food on ice which is hard to come by during a hurricane. So yeah, they're ok for survival food when you're hungry

I bought a Mountain House box for my tornado shelter. They were about to expire (technically, probably not actually) so I started eating them. They were ALL great so I can testify that they are worth it. Bought a replacement box without hesitation. Thanks, Vivian!

Vivian.. I have these in my emergency kit with extra water and a portable stove. The stove uses cans of butane gas.. It's all u need. Use it on the boat and camping..one can can make a few days meals. Stove cost $20 & gas is $3/can..❤

I love mountain house meals. We go hunting and bring them with us all the time. We use a fire and a pot. To get water we use a lifestraw that we connect to a shower bag and gravity feed it to drip into a container. There is actually a machine you can buy that freeze dries your own food. We have considered buying one. You should check them out they are called harvest right.

The expire date is for the stores 99% of the time has nothing to do with the food quality. Some places don't even have an expire date. Most food will be good up to 2 weeks past the expire date and cans will last year's past it. It's just to get you to throw your food out sooner and spend more money on there products.
