The transmission is an AR5 transmission. It doesn't bolt right up to the JZ's you have to buy an AR5 swap kit (or piece everything together yourself) you'll need a 1jz bell housing and some parts off of a Toyota R154 transmission

I have the solstice 2.4 L and I don’t think it’s that slow. The gearing is nice and fifth gear is actually an overdrive. I roll through the gears and I move just fine. A track car it is not, but does feels nice on public roads. The handling is absolutely incredible!!

they use a CTS-V Gen one Rear End. its the Same trans as a R154 2J/7mgte Trans. Newer version, they also use them in the Chevy Colorado. that turbo is a Stock Turbo off the Turbo Version of the Solstice. Same Turbo as a Cobalt SS.

Unsprung weight is everything (tires, wheels, axle, lower control arms, trailing links, etc.) between the ground and the springs. The reason it is important is because the lighter the unsprung weight, the better the contact between road and tire on uneven or rippled pavement (due to less upward inertia for the suspension to deal with when you hit a bump). An easier way to bleed air out of the cooling system is to apply a vacuum to the bleeder port. If you don't have a self-bleeder kit for bleeding brakes, you can use a glass jar (like an empty pickle jar), hook up a vacuum line on one side of the lid and a line to the bleeder port on the other. The light vacuum at idle will suck the air out much faster and when you start to get a steady stream of antifreeze, you know you are done. As an added bonus, you capture the antifreeze instead of having it spurt out on the engine, so it doesn't make the car smell until it burns off and you can put the captured antifreeze back in the overflow tank.

That RTV on the exhaust manifold gasket is not required, and will burn away anyway. I mean it won't HURT (since it's sensor-safe Ultra Grey), but those little channels in the gasket are stamped like that because they deform when it's tightened to make the seal. ps- Invest in an Air-Lift II tool for coolant filling, it's like $100 but saves your BUTT in filling/bleeding cooling systems. It just uses shop air over a venturi valve to pull a vacuum in the system, then let the coolant flow in to replace the sucked-out air. Especially after a water pump change where you don't want a bubble to cause it to cavitate, it's a life saver, even it's just to "be SURE" there are no air-bubbles causing your probs!

This car in europe is the Opel GT 2.0T 260+ hp and it comes with a K04 turbo as stock. K04 turbos are good for 400+ hp. I liked that you did it yourself and see the pontiac's version, hope your mom liked it!

I’m sure this vid is old. I’m sure a shit ton of people have said this already but here we go. Understanding the difference between sprung and unsprung weight is VERY simple. And you got it wrong. Spring weight is weight the suspension holds.... the cars suspension does not hold the freaking wheels... it uses them as contact with the ground to transfer spring weight. Basically... anything at the wheel end is unsprung because the spring ARE NOT supporting it, but rather using it as support. Reducing UNSPRUNG weight has significant effects on handling etc, so at least in the end you did benefit the build.

The key to living with a Solstice is to use the opposite hand for everything. Same type turbo as the 5 cylinder 90's volvos. That diverter valve would have torn/ripped even if it wasn't damaged in shipping. They're notorious for that any time you run over stock boost even when they're OEM replacements.

What you should have done for the water feed is grabbed the water pipe off a 2.0 lnf ecotec turbo, it has a water feed port on it.

Adam is correct, the Solstice/Sky manual trans is an AR-5, swap the bellhousing to an R154 and it bolts up to the JZ

The engine is actually cast using a process called "lost foam", GM used a styrofoam engine core placed in sand then molten aluminum is poured causing the cast to look like aluminum styrofoam!

Adams correct pb blaster is night and day better then wd40. Wd40 is for lubricating tools and preventing rust. Pb blaster is made to eat rust and penetrate deep into threads. Wd is more of a lubricant and pb is a penetrant. Wayyy better for rusty seized hardware.

preprodigy wd40 actually is just a water displacer. That’s what wd stands for. It’s actually not intended to use as a lubricant
