Trust me, if Canelo's team felt they could beat him they would've fought Beterviev immediately after Kovalev. But they vacated the 175 belt and moved down as they felt he was too risky and tough to beat. Again to avoid (partially threat inside ring and partially to not give him payday) Benavidez, they moved to 175 and picked Bivol as he was the safer option of the 2. Bivol always goes to a UD victory but Beterbiev would come to stop. So they went with Bivol. Its easy to see that Beterbiev was out of their plans almost 2-3 years back. Canelo will never share the ring with Beterbiev
