I have a 2018 XF 25T. I just became a Jaguar enthusiast because of my XF. Thank you, Sir, I am learning a lot from your videos.

Glad to help Raven. Ive owned 2 XF's as well. Both Brilliant 3.O D's but not as new as your steed👍. There is nothing else quite like a Jag

Hi John, Well you've set everyone a real conundrum there. I predict a lot of "skint knuckles " this weekend as the community checks....and hopes.

I will look at mine tomorrow, thanks for this info, .. I have the XJR but should be the same on the normal belt, not the supercharged belt in theory.
@AndyK.15 жыл бұрын
The supercharger belt on the R’s have a similar system. Tensioner is other side, low down. SC belt is around £50

Heads up for XKR owners. This is more complicated on the XKR, you have to remove the fan assembly, which means disconnecting the top radiator hose. So make sure you have a pan to catch the fluid. Also make sure you have extra coolant to top up when you are done. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO REMOVE THE FANS WITH THE HOSE IN THE WAY ! Believe me I wasted an hour trying to get the fans out.

Good morning John, first off Iwant to start by saying that I like channel a lot and have a greater understanding of my 2001 Jaguar XKR. I was wondering if you have any knowledge of why my Jag will suddenly loose power while driving and I get 3 warning messages that show up on the dash. First one reads ASB not available, TRAC not available and engine fault. After pulling over and turn the car off and wait for a minute or so and restart the car the warnings go away and I am able to drive away as if nothing ever happened. But only for a short distance and then it happens again. I have had it in to the dealership where I have my Jag serviced and they cannot come up with a diagnostic of what can cause this, I was wondering if you or any of your followers have ever had the same or and what was done to fix the problem. Thank you for your time and keep posting those secrets, love them. Al

It could bee a dodgy 'S' Switch. Try operating it repeatedly with the car turned off in order to hopefully clean the internal contacts. Then go for a drive and try to provoke the fault by pressing the S switch. If no more problem👍 If you get the problem when you operate the switch then potentially problem located👍 If not then my next suspect is a faulty wheel speed sensor confusing the ABS and traction

There are 2 belts listed for these engines, even from the same manufacturer, e.g. Gates. One is 2328mm long and the other 2345mm long. It’s only about 1% difference but which is factory spec and which do you have (can’t quite make out the writing on your belts in the video).

I will check this afternoon Gareth. I know that there are plastic (Original) idler and tensioner pulleys that have non replaceable bearings an metal upgraded later pulleys which can have the bearing changed. Not 100% sure but I think there is a subtly different belt specified depending on which you have. Mine are plastic so when I get the length for you, as long as yours is still plastic it should be the same. One of our subscribers may chip in with a better answer to your question here though. Anyone?

The tensioner on my 03 XK8 4.2 is different . Are there marks on mine?
@dutchr4zor9 ай бұрын
How much can you depress your accesory drive belt? For some reason my tensioner is at the "new belt" position, however my Gates Krikit meter 91107 measures no tension and I can press it about 15mm quite easily. Thanks.
@ToTheGarage9 ай бұрын
Obviously a hard thing to comment on remotely but if you can twist the belt through a quarter turn (90 degrees) then its certainly too slack.
@dutchr4zor9 ай бұрын
Thanks! I replaced the belt and tensioner, now it's much more stiff. Gates still doesn't give a tension measurement, I think it might not be suitable for this belt width.@@ToTheGarage

Hi John !Awesome videos !I got 99 Xk8 Jag Red as your cabrio .Love it! Any idea Where can I get some paint In the USA?Another thing us that car needs more time to gain speed.Do I need to change ignition coil and sp.plugs?Thanks!Robert from Florida.
@ToTheGarage3 жыл бұрын
Not got any recommendations for suppliers in the states. Have you seen these folk?www.automotivetouchup.com/touch-up-paint/jaguar/2000/xk8/ Exhaust over axle will add 15 to 20 Hp Tune the gearbox by getting it to learn to be more aggressive. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZCthpqsd7WNY7c Eliminate ALMOST all the slack in the throttle cable. Check air intake snorkel for leaks. Check breather pipes (attached to each cam cover) for leaks and blockages Clean the MAF sensor then 8 coils and 8 spark plugs may add a little more edge.

Hey Mr. English Gentleman! How does "The Wife" enjoy the "New" Jag Rag Top compared to The Coupe'. You remember me, A Jag Fan in South Florida.

My wife prefers convertibles as do I, but she also prefers Jeeps to Jags so her car is a tin top Jeep.

Amazing! My Wife insists we keep buying Jeeps also! ... while my 72 Coupe "E" V-12 is TOO Expensive to Restore, it sits waiting for me. (I have been buying new parts for it for a few years in secret).
