*The question at timelapse **18:17** min.* That question clearly proves to me that the lady, and sadly most people slight the word of God. The local pastors and their elders should form study groups and delve into key doctrinal beliefs. *Let us read what Paul says in the book of Hebrews pertaining to her question:* *“Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum:* We have such an *high priest,* who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; A *minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, WHICH THE LORD PITCHED,* and not man. For *every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer. *FOR IF HE WERE ON EARTH, HE SHOULD NOT BE A PRIEST, SEEING THAT THERE ARE PRIESTS THAT OFFER GIFTS ACCORDING TO THE LAW.”* Hebrews 8:1-4 *The pivotal fact is* - *Paul said regarding Jesus being our High Priest that if he were on earth,* He *COULD NOT* be our priest. *THIS MEANS JESUS COULD NOT BE OUR PRIEST AT THE SAME TIME AS WHEN HE WAS OUR SACRIFICE ON EARTH.* The role of High Priest had to come *AFTER* His resurrection and ascension to heaven, because as we have read from Hebrews above, Jesus was to be a *"MINISTER OF THE SANCTUARY"* in heaven, *"OF THE TRUE TABERNACLE, WHICH THE LORD PITCHED, AND NOT MAN."* So, *Jesus was to become our High Priest AFTER His sacrifice and return to heaven.* Why and to do what? *To fulfil the* “shadow” and “type” *AS GIVEN IN THE OLD COVENANT* - to make atonement for us. ‘Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even *at the right hand of God, who also MAKETH INTERCESSION [G1793] FOR US.’* Rom. 8:34 *Why would Christ be making intercessions anymore if the entire ATONEMENT PROCESS was FINISHED at the cross?* Isn’t the work of intercession not part of Christ’s work to save us? *Now let us read Hebrews 9:6-26,* “Now when these things were thus ordained, *THE PRIESTS* went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God. *But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, NOT WITHOUT BLOOD,* which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people: The Holy Ghost this signifying, that *THE WAY INTO THE HOLIEST OF ALL WAS NOT YET MADE MANIFEST, WHILE AS THE FIRST TABERNACLE WAS YET STANDING:* Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices ... *BUT CHRIST BEING COME AN HIGH PRIEST* of good things to come, *BY A GREATER AND MORE PERFECT TABERNACLE, NOT MADE WITH HANDS,* that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, *BUT BY HIS OWN BLOOD HE ENTERED IN ONCE INTO THE HOLY PLACE,* having obtained eternal redemption for us ... For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; *BUT INTO HEAVEN ITSELF, NOW TO APPEAR IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD FOR US:* Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once *in the end of the world* hath he appeared *TO PUT AWAY SIN BY THE SACRIFICE OF HIMSELF.”* Hebrews 9:6-26. *What did John saw in vision three decades after Christs resurrection?* “And *the temple of God* was opened *in heaven,* and there was seen *IN HIS TEMPLE the ark of his testament:”* Revelation 11:19 [cf. Heb. 8:1-6; Also read, Ex 25:16; 31:18]. Christ entered into the heavenly sanctuary, *the TRUE tabernacle of which the earthly was a copy [Ex 25:8,9], there to fulfil the role of High Priest, of which the earthly priest was a “type” of Christ mediating for the people [TO MAKE ATONEMENT] for them and their sins [with blood.] *THIS ROLE CHRIST COULD NOT FULFIL WHILE ON EARTH. HIS ROLE ON EARTH WAS THE ROLE OF “OFFERING” AND “SACRIFICE”.* Only *[AFTER] THIS WAS ACCOMPLISHED* was Christ then able to become our Mediator [1 Timothy 2:5] and make atonement for our sins. I am *NOT* saying that the sacrifice of Christ on the cross was not an atonement. *The Bible clearly lays out that Calvary was the [BEGINNING] of the atonement.* The offering of the spotless animal in the Old Testament *“type”* was the BEGINNING of the atonement. *BUT IT WAS THE [PRIEST] WHO COMPLETED THAT ATONEMENT FOR SINNERS.* - *Jesus dying on the cross was the beginning of His atoning work. Now He is in heaven as our High Priest FINISHING the atonement.* *Look at what it says in the last verse of Hebrews 9:26 above.* What does it mean where it says *"IN THE END OF THE WORLD HATH HE APPEARED [TO PUT AWAY SIN]"?* To *“put away sin” means to “cleanse” to “make clean”, “reconciliation”, “purify”, “sanctify”, “restoration”* - *to ATONE,* to make us *“at-one-ment”* with God. *Surly, now we can clearly understand and comprehend that the atonement did not finish at the cross, it *BEGAN AT THE CROSS.* And Jesus is now making *final* atonement for us in the heavenly sanctuary as our High Priest and Mediator before the Father. [1 Tim 2:5; Heb 8:6, 9:15, 12:24]. So, it must also be constantly kept in mind that the atonement is not the cause but the consequence of God’s love for guilty men [John 3:16; Romans 3:24-25; Ephesians 1:7; 1 John 1:9; 4:9]. The atonement may also be regarded as necessary, not in an absolute but in a relative sense, i.e., if man is to be saved, there is no other way than this which God has purposed and carried out [Exodus 34:7; Joshua 24:19; Psalm 5:4; 7:11; Nahum 1:2,6; Romans 3:5]. This is God’s plan, clearly revealed; and that is enough for us to know. *Excerpt from Easton’s Bible Dictionary 1897:* Atonement does not occur in the Authorized Version of the New Testament except in Rom. 5:11, where in the Revised Version the word “reconciliation” is used. In the Old Testament it is of frequent occurrence. The meaning of the word is simply at-one-ment, i.e., the state of being one or being reconciled, so that atonement is reconciliation. Thus, it is used to denote the effect which flows from the death of Christ. *Continue reading page 2*

*Page 2* *Atonement from Webster’s 1828 Dictionary:* *1.* agreement; concord; reconciliation after controversy *2.* expiation: satisfaction or reparation made by giving an equivalent for an injury or suffering *3.* in theology, the expiation of sin made by the obedience and personal sufferings of Christ *Old Testament Hebrew:* Kafar: to expiate or condone, to cancel, appease, make an atonement, cleanse, forgive, be merciful, pacify, pardon, purge, reconcile. [Strong’s H3722, Accordance]. *Nehemiah **10:33** H3722 Hebrew כָּפַר - Transliteration: kâphar - Definition: to cover, purge, make an atonement, make reconciliation, cover over with pitch.* *The mediation of the Lord Jesus Christ is an atonement, which means that He mediates for the forgiveness of our sins, being the Atoner who paid our debts on our behalf.* - *His mediation means that He says to the Father:* "Do not count their transgressions because I have carried their iniquity" [Is.53:6]. Thus, He stands as a Mediator between God and men; or rather, *He is the only Mediator between God and men; He fulfilled God’s Divine Justice and granted people the forgiveness of sins, by dying for them.* This is what John the Apostle meant when he said: *"And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world"* 1 John.2: 1-2 NASB. *Here, the atoning mediation is very clear.* It is a mediation for the sinner: "If anyone sins", and this sinner needs atonement. The only One who offered this atonement was Jesus Christ the Righteous. Hence, He can mediate for us through His blood which was shed for us. The same meaning is given in the words of Paul the Apostle about the Lord Jesus Christ being the only Mediator between God and men. He says: *"For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom [G487 what is given in exchange for another as a redemption-price] for all"* 1Tim.2: 5-6. The Lord Jesus Christ mediates for us as the Redeemer who sacrificed Himself and paid the price of our sins. *This type of mediation is utterly unquestionable.* - *It is attributed to Christ only.* One thing is for sure: just as the commandments were not merely spoken, but written out by Christ’s own finger on stone [Exod. 24:12; Deut. 10:1-4], *so the sanctuary instructions were not merely verbal but were presented to Moses as plans or as a miniature model. Luke records that the sanctuary “ ‘had been made as God directed Moses, *according to the pattern he had seen’ ” [Acts 7:44].* “Yahweh shows Moses the pattern of God’s holy tabernacle and all its furniture [Exod. 25:9, 40]. Here tabnîyth [H8403] *TWICE MENTIONED* means ‘pattern, model.’ *God revealed the sanctuary to Moses on Mount Sinai [Exod. 25:9, 40; **26:30**; 27:8; Num. 8:4].* Numbers 8:4b reads, “The lampstand was made exactly like the pattern [mar’eh H4758] the LORD [Yahweh] had *shown [râʼâh H7200]* Moses” - *[literally “had caused Moses to see”].* This causation is important, as we will find out. God said to Moses, “ ‘Make them according to the pattern [tabnîyth H8403] shown you on the mountain’ ” [Exod. 25:40]. The Hebrew word tabnîyth has a semantic range from “pattern” to “type” and could indicate an architect’s plans [pattern] or a miniature model [type]. *At first glance, this could mean that God presented Moses with either architectural drawings or a model of the structure, a “three-dimensional model.”*

Absolutely outstanding break down. That has always been my question to naysayers of the Investigative Judgement. If the Atonement is finished, why is Jesus still officiating as a priest? I never get a response.
