The longer we hear from the so called New Atheists the less convincing they become. I find Dawkins now a rather pathetic figure desperately hanging on to a paradigm which is gradually evaporating rather than evolving into something convincing.

Yes, I think the central issue is that it never really stood for anything. It's moral ontology was flawed - good as an immutable fact just somehow exists, yet a materialist worldview cannot account for it since they only have the evolutionary or socio-economic advantage argument. Which can never truly express the sublime notions of good and evil.

It is ironic that rationalistic secular atheism is so aghast at the nature of true life, that human beings are created in the image of God and possess an eternal soul, that it can hardly bear the thought. Like one who has been trapped in a dark cellar for so long, it cannot tolerate the light.

I'm not convinced that Dawkins IS an atheist. On page 339 of a book titled "Theology and Sanity" by Frank Sheed and published by Ignatius Press, the author says that even in this life, there can be a realised hatred of God: "...for the majesty of God is an intolerable affront to self-love grown so monstrous." If anyone is full of self-love, it's Dawkins. Plus his hatred of (especially) Catholic Christianity goes beyond insane...even to the demonic? He just can't help himself!

Yeah but catholics abused children on an industrial scale. That upsets some people. Frankly I don't get why it doesn't upset you. You just go on spouting your platitudes as if nothing has happened. Your faith has blinded you to what is moral and what is evil.

For me, Dawkins, like Hitchens RIP, for all their intellectual capacity, have, through pride, come to the wrong conclusion about Christ and God. They rely too much on their own ability and intellect; they have access to the facts but have formed them into their own world image. As Htichens' thoughts and actions fade into the ether, (as will Dawkins) Christianity continues on and will continue on..... That pretty much says it all.

You are surely right to highlight Dawkins' key complaint to Hirsi Ali about the spiritual soul. In the original UnHerd video, kzbin.info/www/bejne/enPWeZd-gtuomdUsi=Q-xQ9AzUKv1J9_Qs&t=1179, Hirsi Ali's 19:40 ff response seems very like Peterson (phenomenological not Greco-Scholastic). Her reason for something more than matter (30 secs at 27:09) might well get Peterson out of his suffocating monism, and even enable him to follow her great example.

It’s a pity the way you are framing this. Surely these people have come to Christ, not the pope and not to any church which cannot save anyone. Christ died for us, as no one else could have done what Christ has done for us.
