We love Beowulf Grammar. We started when my son was 6 and he absolutely loves learning alongside Beowulf the dog. My 2 year old memorized the linking verb and prepositions songs. It's a wonderful curriculum.

Thank so much for your review, as I was wondering if I could use the program with a first grader, as we do introduce parts of speech and basic punctuation via picture books and hands-on activities and projects.
@ProjectHappyHome3 жыл бұрын
I think it would be alright to start in first grade if your student is a strong reader/writer, but it would have been too advanced for my first grader at the time. 💚

I would love to see the book ‘English from the roots up’. Thanks for the thorough look through of this curriculum. We are a bilingual family. We won’t be homeschooling, but I want to ensure my child has a good grasp of the English language, as the main language in school isn’t English. Which means we will be doing some home learning. ❤️❤️❤️

This looks AMAZING for kinesthetic learners! We are using TGTB Level 2 this year for my busy-body son, and he just isn't crazy about it. Lots of sitting, reading from their very dry readers, and it's falling flat, if that makes sense. Thanks for this review! Seriously considering switching!

Another great option that I’d look into for kinesthetic learners in Grammar Galaxy - @arleneandcompany has great reviews of it on Instagram. 😊

Great review. Did you stick with it all the way through? Would you still suggest this program, or did you fund something else ? I've been debating on getting this or going another route. Any finale feedback helps!

We finished it over 1.5 years (2nd and half of 3rd grade), and it was fantastic! The kid who used this curriculum is a grammar wizard, and I fully attribute it to this program. It is more rigorous than it appears on first inspection, but it is paced very well. I fully plan on using it with the youngest as well when she is ready.

Thank you for sharing this curriculum! I am not all that happy with the LA we picked... Looking around for next year 2nd grade. I will, definitely mention you! I’ll love a review of their LA!! I’ll love to use both the grammar and LA for 2nd and 3rd or at least for the first half of 3rd. It looks like it has a LOT so would love to enjoy it and not rush to get it done. Thank you for sharing that that’s an option. Would you consider using the LA as well? I can’t find any reviews on it. Their website and the programs look beautiful, they definitely need more reviews out there. Happy week!🙏💗

I’ve never heard of this program. Thanks for the review! I was heavily leaning towards using MCT this year, but the cost makes me hesitant. We cover a lot of language arts, so I’m also not in a rush to add anything, but I’ll have to look more into this program.

I haven't purchased this yet but I was glad to see your flip through because I was really leaning toward it. This is going to be our first full year of homeschool with my second grade granddaughter. Can you tell me how it spans those grade levels? Are there certain paged for certain levels? I have a 2nd and 5th grader. I was looking at Fix It Grammar series for the 5th grader and Logic of English Foundations D for the 2nd grader. Both are also doing Build Your Library at their grade levels. But they would probably both be drawn to this. Just not sure if it would be too basic of the older child.
@ProjectHappyHome4 жыл бұрын
My girls are going to be 6 and 8 and they will both enjoy this, but my son is going to be 11 and I definitely think he'd be bored. I think it depends on where the kid is in terms of grammar skills, and also whether they like to cut/paste/craft their lessons.
@megankreider48843 жыл бұрын
does Beowulf grammar need to be printed one sided bc of the activity pages?
@ProjectHappyHome3 жыл бұрын
I printed most of it one sided for that reason, but if you were printing it in sections, you could print much of double-sided and just print the few cutting pages single-sided. I wanted to have them all printed at once, and I simply didn’t have the patience to check. We add all the completed pages to our drawing bin anyway, so it works out.

Did you stretch this over a couple of years? I guess my only concern with it is that it is only made for one year or is it repeatable?
@tanyafaisal19032 жыл бұрын
It took my second grader a little over a year to complete it. I don't think it needs to be repeated, and I am continuously impressed by how much she retained from this curriculum. Hope that helps!

Would a 2nd and 4th grader start at the same level if they both have had no formal grammar teaching?
@ProjectHappyHome2 жыл бұрын
Yes - it's a stand-alone curriculum, so any grade level between 2-6 can use it. I think it is a little advanced for 2nd grade, but spot on for 3rd. I used it for my 2nd grader, but she was a very strong reader and pretty instinctive with grammar so it worked. After completing it, I can honestly say that it was one of our favorite curriculums, and my daughter keeps saying that she learned this or that in Beowolf as she does grammar now.
