yes, the weak spot on the folding locks is the pins (unless you have a talented picker who can quickly get thru a disc core). Sure, with some big bolt cutters you can get through the folding lock in about 1 min. but, with battery off and me never far away - the folding lock works perfect for my needs.

To get more money when ordering. I just bought a $3000 8000w ebike clearly informing them it most have option for alarm/wheel lock. Bike gets here with no alarm connections. When i explained this their answer was you didnt order alarm from us so we couldn’t provide connections 😳. They said it would have been more money. Duh…

@EbikeEscape4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I really like it. The only downside is if you park it at a bike rack that gets jostled around a bit. Others could accidentally set your alarm off. Of course you can always lock it in the other position which doesn't engage the alarm.

Hey Ryan, excellent video. Choosing the right security is such a minefield, you help ease the decision making process, thanks. Have you used a lock that can text you if tampered with? By the way what is the name and where might I get the wavy transition effect you use on your video?

Looking forward to it. By the way I,m looking to get a GPS Tracker for my new electric bike (as you know, if they want it they’ll nick it). There are very few products or reviews on this. I have been looking closely at SwissTrack GPS Tracker which inserts in the seat post and seems to do a fairly decent job (once received)... but from the few feedback discussions I’ve found their customer service and delivery looks a little sketchy. My order is in the shopping basket on their website but, with no PayPal option I’m kinda hesitating on pressing the ‘Buy’ button lol. Have a look see what you think. Your followers might find it useful. Anyways, keep up the good work.

hey I got the lock but question what if there is a lot of wind? because when I wiggle it a tiny bit the alarm starts going off warning alarm
@EbikeEscape4 жыл бұрын
Can't say I've had that issue, but depending on where you lock the bike you should be able to brace the actual lock somewhere so it isn't dangling and prone to going off easily. Of course you can always choose to not have the lock alarmed.

Thanks. I had this lock briefly. If you don't have water bottle holes to mount it to it will be a nightmare to mount. The rubber straps do nothing to help and will easily break.

@EbikeEscape4 жыл бұрын
Good point, I may try out the metal straps to mount it elsewhere for winter or perhaps find a cover that fits over it. It does seem like it would hold up well but I'd rather be on the safe side. Like my other battery operated accessories I'll have to bring it inside the house when it gets cold out.

So can they drive off when the ABUS is on or..? Also to start the bike do u have to have a key for the battery or u just press the power?
@EbikeEscape4 жыл бұрын
The battery has a lock but I never recommend leaving it on the bike. Bring it with you since these are pretty unsecure. If the battery is turned off the bike won't turn on. The ABUS lock will simply alarm with any movement. You should always try to lock the frame and the wheel to a bike rack.

@EbikeEscape3 жыл бұрын
It can take some getting used to aligning any folding lock but there are pros/cons to most styles. We really like that this one can mount to our bottle cage and that it has an integrated alarm. Perhaps a U-Lock or chain lock would be better for you.

This is technically a different lock (Bordo Big). They may have also made changes so it's hard to say for sure if this would still work (the video you linked is 2 years old). As I mentioned in the video any lock can be compromised, it's all about making your ebike less of a target.

Yes, you could spend thousands of dollars on an eBike kzbin.infoUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ and get something much higher quality. However, if you're looking for a basic model to try out eBiking this is a great choice. The assembly is easy as far as bikes go (took about an hour for me to do, I'm not an expert). All tools needed are included. I added the plastic mud guards you see and a more comfortable seat. The other reviews are correct that you're probably going to want a better seat (Giddy Up! Bike Seat is what I got - super comfortable). The battery easily handles a 2-4 hour ride if you add some of your own pedal power. I haven't even gotten it up to top speed yet - it is very fast. Components are not top of the line, but decent for the price and work just fine. It works great on dirt roads and singletrack and pavement although too heavy to do tricks or any serious technical mountain biking. I'm looking forward to using it a lot over the summer. Tons of fun!

I can’t say that I would trust this long for any situation but leaving the bike for 15 minutes while I go into a small store while there is plenty of foot traffic where I lock the bike. I see that on thebestbikelock dot com, that this lock can be cut with a simple part of bold cutters. Not even an angle grinder is needed.
@EbikeEscape3 жыл бұрын
All depends on your area. For us this lock is plenty sufficient. Thanks for your comment!
