You made some really good points in this video. Security officers starting out need to always remember to equip their vehicles for the tasks the hope to perform and lights are an important part of that. Lights, especially if you do mobile security patrols, is a must. Emergency lights are a very effective deterrent to the bad guys, they promote safety for the officer by making them easy to see in emergencies and also let law enforcement know that you're security and not a suspicious vehicle. One thing I would add is to always follow the law when it comes to lights. There are a lot of companies that'll try to rationalize the use of restricted colors by saying that they are used on private property which is all well and good until they eventually get used off a clients property and the guard gets written up for it. And honestly doing that, just adds to the "wannabe" image that plagues the security industry and will definitely antagonize your local law enforcement. When you're starting out sometimes you have to go with what you can afford too. Our first cars used second hand rotator lightbars that were sometimes older than the car they were on lol but in my opinion, everyone should shoot for a full size led lightbar as soon as it is financially feasible. They really do give you the best all around visibility and honesty the visor/grille/deck light combo setup can actually sometimes be more expensive once you add it all up. Right now we use mostly Whelen light products but when we started we used mostly Code 3 MX7000 and Excaliburs that we got used from local PDs. The key is to shop around, there a lot of high quality lights these days that won't break the bank. Loved this videos like always! Keep up the great work and stay safe.

California guards should be aware that most of what he says is not allowed in California. “Security vehicles that are privately-owned and operated exclusively on private property may use amber flashing warning lights that can be seen to the front, rear, and sides. These lights may only be used when the vehicle is responding to emergency calls that pose an immediate threat to life or property. These vehicles must be clearly marked on the sides and rear with the words “PRIVATE SECURITY” or “SECURITY PATROL”, and cannot be used while on public highways. A peace officer may order the removal of the warning strobe lights from a private security vehicle for violating this law. California Vehicle Code Sec. 25279.”

I have a Speedtech K Force 37 inch full size light bar (amber) which I'm going to upgrade to a Speedtech K Force 47 inch full size (purple). I also have side and rear facing Amber's from Autozone which I'll be upgrading to STL (purples). The only time I'll put a mini or beacon light on my vehicle is if I have purchased another vehicle and need to put it into service before the proper light setup I want ships to me. I don't like mini light bars, so if I had to go with a temporary setup I'd use a beacon until my full light bar arrives.

Is there a policy that a privately owned patrol car that is idly parked at night in a private residential community can have the blinkers and flashing lights on continuously? Can a low deep amber lighting with steady pattern (no blinkers) provide the same safety for the patrol officer. I am a homeowner residing in the community andI am bothered by the continuous blinking (flashing) lights even with my French door shutters closed. Thank you for your opinion!

Missouri is very strict on all of this stuff. It was stringent pre September 11, 2001 but post September 11, 2001 it became very strict. Even an amber light needs special paperwork now. Doesn't matter if it's beacon, a full bar, grill lights, if a cop sees them, he will get very... Not sure what the word is. Nasty, maybe ? But if they're turned on, on public roads, regardless of reason, you're very likely to be arrested and charged with "Impersonating a Police Officer" It is B.S. but it is what it is. Missouri has "Funeral Lights" which are purple. Used to only be amber. Only the lead car and hearse are allowed to use them. Usually they are a mini bar, grill lights, and hideaway in reverse light housing. They also have wig wag alternating flashers on high beams and brake lights. Firefighters were getting into all kinds of trouble with the police over lighting on their personal vehicles. Even volunteer firefighters. On their personal vehicle, they're supposed to have either a blue beacon on their dashboard, or a blue mini bar on the roof of their vehicle. They were lighting their vehicles like a Christmas tree and the cops hassled them over that. It's ridiculous. In California, you have to have a steady burn red light that is visible 360 degrees at all times (When activated). No flashing. Other lights can flash but there must be one visible steady burn red light visible 360 degrees. That's all I know about that.

Here in Florida security are allowed to use Amber or green or a combination of both, I have seen some security vehicles with purple and Amber lights or purple and white lights but normally it's funeral vehicles that has those colors, but all in all they are perfectly legal as long as they are not blue or red

Strict? LMAO! Come to Germany, then you will know what strict means. Example: An emergency vehicle must be equipped with at least one 360° Blue light. It must be a specific Blue color. Also it can only have two forward facing blue grille lights. But they have to be mounted at least 65 cm above the ground, must be parallel to the ground, ECE- R65 proofed, flash all together at a specific flash rate, only double flash. Same to the rear. No White, No Red, No Amber, except to the rear when stationary, but only 6 LED's and they have to flash all together. This is strict.
@michaeljavert4635
@michaeljavert4635 2 жыл бұрын
@@streamerlx4927 Strict here (Missouri) means that you can be charged with impersonating a Police Officer. If you don't think that's strict, try it and let me know how it fared for you. I can guarantee it will not fare well for you. I have a friend that was railroaded right out of his job in Security because he was arrested for Impersonating a Police Officer when he did not even use them on a public street. All he did is have them in his car, and he was a licensed Security Officer. His lawyer told him, that if he plead guilty, he would lose his license, get 5 years of unsupervised probation and 24 hours community service. If he plead not guilty, it would likely go to trail, and a good chance he would have lost (At the time) and would have had heavy fines, and time in jail with a conviction and incarceration appearing on his permanent record "Case.net" in Missouri. It shows actual court papers, filings, proceedings, and is available to the public, for free. So you can't even lie. They will see it all with just your name if they look, and if you're applying for any job, they are very likely to look and use other resources of information that is collected on you. So yeah, that's strict and they can make your life from mildly unpleasant and inconvenient to miserably impossible. It all depends on the cop, his mood, and your attitude towards him or her, as the case may be.
