GA requires an emergency light permit for amber (utility), green (security), or purple (funeral)... white is not regulated. The permit cost $1 for a year. You cannot use lights outside of "official duty", I.E a funeral escort, while guarding a property, or doing utility/construction work. None of these lights give you right of way, they are a warning or "pay attention" light. Amber does require you to move over and slow down if possible, but not required. I have used amber/white for escorting, but I would never use them to intervene unless it was dark, bad weather, and there were truly a risk of secondary accident or injury. Not worth the risk of loss of permit or fine, or worse impersonation.

Well, if police departments, government agencies, or basically corporations refer to interviews to attorneys or public relations personnel. What makes one guy with zero media training go on tv and basically make tons of statements based off emotions, and then proceed to start bashing the local PD. This guy is litterely why companies forbid interviews with line level employees. Security is about reducing liabilities. Not increasing it

Nice! Reporting writing always been my thing. I learned a few things to add to all reports via the sheriffs office training academy and working. Funny thing when I add certain things, supervisors in the past have asked why did add that stuff. I’m like, really, lol!? One night an officer came to my site due to clients calling and I asked him for one piece of information to add and he was shocked that I add it to reports. Just thought I’d mention about it too, but TEEX A&M also has a report writing course that is Texas law enforcement and public safety accredited of 4 hours for LE, EMS, corrections, other first responders and security as well. So that’s another thing to look into as well.

Point 1. Police officers have many more hours of training to deal with situations they encounter. Point2. Every police officer if he pulls his gun to get the person to comply with a command -@Commander Hall It’s called lawfull. A citizen does not have the right to pull a gun to get someone to comply ( unless a life is in danger ) There is a higher level of authority the police officer is granted. That does not compare in contrast or translate into security work in many cases, if not most of them. All security guards are not mentally able to handle just simple retail store disputes , when the person calls out the security guard a rent-a-cop (out comes the gun) I have done security for 30yrs unarmed talked down and taken down many without ever having a weapon. The gun does not give me any more authority or command of presence more than my pure professionalism.

Point 1. from the video when the newscaster stated that the officer saw the suspects messing around with his personal car. ( he lost it) Now the officer is in I’m gonna get you mode -you don’t mess with my car!!!!!!(wrong) Point2. he chased after them, the officer stated that He wanted to hold them for the police.(wrong) Point 3 In uniform interview on camera (wrong) who called the news? Was it him ? Point 4. This site not high crime life or death site Point 5. They look like juveniles (he’s fighting kids) Point 6. The supervisor was right in response to him filming in uniform Point 7. The supervisor said you touched him, I wouldn’t have touched him ( guard was wrong) to chase and attempt to detain the suspects with no backup single guard on site. Point 8. This guard is too emotional and did not take responsibility for his mistakes/missteps in this situations. Point 9. Thank god he wasn’t armed we might have 2 dead kids over an attempt because of this guy You observed you ran them off end of story.

There is no reason to chase after someone for that. Should’ve let them go. If people know anything about modern day law enforcement, especially in big cities, they’re not going to respond to low priority calls and it’s because that high priority calls are more important. So he should’ve known better. As a private citizen; lady we’re security guards. We ARE private citizens. Do agree with her that it was his fault though because he chased after them when they were attempting to leave. He should be criminally charged. Situation like that, all you do is call dispatch (non emergency) and give them description of subjects and incidents, and the direction they went and officers will eventually run into them. If not, then no biggie because not really a crime happened. However, the guard did commit assault and technically, false imprisonment to a degree. Hence, they were fleeing and only thing they were doing was looking inside vehicles. It’s called reporting suspicious activity aka see something, say something. No need to call 911 and request an officer to come and waste law enforcement resources and time. PS, there are always ways to improvise materials and products around you to use as weapon and defend with. Don’t always need firearms or less lethals. JS.

I totally agree. Know when chase and engagement is needed. And as always I always agree with the not being unarmed. As a security business owner I have a contract that doesn't allow our officers to carry guns only mace/ ownership is only officers they allow to carry a firearm when we work. I actually had a client say to me glad to see someone carrying a gun around here for once. Just shows sometimes ppl appreciate the armed guards just the companies contracting security don't really think about security and it's for security owners to express to them the true need and the evolution of public safety. But don't get me wrong I'm not saying everyone who's certified to carry a sidearm should either because there's a lot of ppl who don't perform well under pressure and make fatal mistakes. Stay safe all.

I understand where you’re coming from, but I think as business owners, we have to be more realistic. Most of the guards make about 15 bucks an hour, his car, his phone are not just Prize possessions most likely they are possessions necessity for survival. His emotional response is what I would expect from an unarmed guard, most likely living paycheck to paycheck, if we expect these guards to do better, they have to be paid better. Without the financial relief to think critically and emotional response is what you’re going to get we don’t know if his insurance was paid. We don’t know if the insurance was paid on his phone but if he doesn’t have a car, no work no pay no phone no communication with your supervisor no extra shifts And it goes on and on. The response the supervisor gave is what I expect. She’s not going to respect her guys because her manager doesn’t respect her. I don’t agree with his actions, but I don’t expect him not to be human in this situation. This is the dynamic that is in the Security industry, especially in these large companies

Trust me, there is more to security than just observe and report. I did a CT course on protecting shopping centers via DHS in May and just did a three day DHS law enforcement AS response course. DHS has been promoting training to security for awareness, mitigation, protection and defense. DHS even says themselves, shopping centers are the most vulnerable and the most easiest and softest targets due to unarmed guards and guards that seek no training. No company wants to do it or get their people trained, prepared and ready even though it cost zero dollars for companies and guards due to government fundings. Companies just don’t care and don’t care about their people or clients and just want that money. If one chooses to work in an unarmed position or even a strictly observe and report only position, it’s the choice of the individual guard. That company working that mall and all the guards working that shift can and probably will be facing law suits for doing nothing. As I say, I’ll never work unarmed and I’ll never work an observe and report only position because that is only setting myself up for liability. Look at the Uvalde chife right now. Should be a wake up call to security guards and company owners. Do nothing, it reflects on you as a company owner. Start taking advantage of the free government training courses and get a tactical mindset. Start looking for title 6 training courses and organizations in your area because believe me, the government will back you more than a company owner or a client ever would for doing what you actually signed up for. And no, I’m not being rude or offensive. Stating facts as I been doing courses that are government funded and at a law enforcement and CT level.

I have white traffic advisor lights in my vehicle that I used should I need to pull off the road, emergency or not. My car is black and I want to make sure other drivers see me should I be pulled over in the dark. I used my white traffic advisors and emergency flashers once on a two-lane public street around 05:15 one morning; it was dark and there were no street lights to illuminate the road. There had been a bad storm earlier and three LARGE black garbage cans had blown into the street blocking the street. I didn't see them until I was almost on them, and that's with my brights on. So, I pulled half-way off the road, hit the lights and got out to move them since they were a traffic hazard. Only one vehicle approached while I was doing this and they stopped until I cleared the street. Once moved, I got back in the car and turned the lights off and went on my way. I saw no problem in doing so as I was actually clearing a traffic hazard/obstruction in the dark.
