Google doesn't discontinue core services, they discontinue ones that are given for free and cost them too much, or ones that aren't well-adopted. Google Apps/Suite/Workspace has been solid and working well for 15 years. If this is a core service, then I'd expect it to be around for a long time.

Google, if you don't keep updating these concepts, you'll eventually discard them like everything else. Your credibility on new ideas is weak because you don't maintain them. You often choose to abandon them, just like the following: Google Reader, Google Stadia, Google+, Picasa, Google Glass, Google Play Music, Google Hangouts, Google Street View App, Google Podcasts, Google Cloud Print, Google Sites, and more.

I don't think it would be a good idea to buy new licenses for products that create videos, as those can be easily done with Google. This feature could be very useful for Workspace subscribers, and if it proves successful, it could be made available to individuals as well, such as Google One subscribers or everyone else.
