I know so many of them who have died in the past couple of days. It breaks my heart to see this. America is blessed with 3 vaccines while we have a shortage of it. I was in the ICU a month ago (not for covid, for organ failure) and I had a nurse that helped just me and the boy next to me. I was in a room with about five other people but none of us were fully conscious, but as I recovered I was transferred to a private room. I live in Washington DC and while it is definitely not perfect, I feel so lucky to have been able to get such care. They saved my life and the only difference we noticed in the hospital was that my parents could only visit me for a few hours a day. I wish all the best for India ❤️

It’s called a developing country for a reason. Over the last 74 years, India has struggled and the changes are very slow. There are way too many poor and the wealthy are able to progress. It is the middle men who mess up the system. A lot of corruption still exists. I remember having to wait in line for basic service for over 5 hours and then when I got to the front, I was asked to come back. We had to pay to get the service, so imagine what it is like for those who don’t have money that struggle for a lifeline. The hospitals are built like hotels, the more money you have the better off you’ll be. It’s like booking a room and in fact the rates are categorized as such, ward bed, economy, delux, premier, ambassador, presidential room. What kind of hospital has a system setup where you have to pay a higher price for a nice room to get your healthcare service needs met. It’s a joke. There needs to be more regulatory oversight over these hospitals.

I love my mom. I feel terrible for the brothers whose mother has died. It's a terrible situation in India, they really need to be running education programs teaching people to properly wear the masks over their noses and to reinforce some hardcore hygiene practices. Don't believe in govt data. It is at least ten-fold higher than the govt data. The govt is just downplaying it for the sake of saving image. One professor from one of India's prestigious University in Delhi whom im acquainted with who is expert in Myanmar/South east Asian issue just passed away from covid. He's only 46 yrs old. The situation is simply devastating. Anyway, im currently in Chennai in South India and I couldn't still go back home. Im stuck.
