That's my observation too. A lot of people don't know and which is why for many when "caught", they're surprised or just simply assume their privacy is just being invaded and then get upset about it. This guy to me it seems, either understood the message or thought Mikey was joking about his intentions.

whilst I agree we shouldn’t touch our phones even when stationary in cars, but what’s the difference between them doing that and you bookmarking something on your GoPro by pressing it when you are cycling on the road? Surely it is playing with something that is equally as distracting?

Interesting point. Well, for one thing, Mikey doesn't use his eyes when he presses the bookmark button. Whereas using a phone involves looking away from the road - and for a lot longer than you imagine. You're effectively driving blind, and you're not even aware you're doing it.

The difference is that one is legal and one is not, and that's because phone use has big mental investment and thus cognitive impairment, whilst pushing a button does not.

The idea that anyone anywhere could video you any time takes all the fun out of anti-social driving. The sense of paranoia really eats away at you. 3rd party video reporting has exploded across the UK. In London in 2022 almost 15,000 such prosecutions were started. There are tens of thousands of people videoing and reporting bad driving.

This is the analogy: a vehicle driven by someone using a phone, is rather like a loaded firearm in a public place. Both are known to cause tragic events. Both are illegal. Reply
