Here's an odd duck you don't see everyday. I'm familiar with the name ARTONE but for tube-type AM radios built in the 50's and not for phonographs. This model (unfortunately) does not have a model number. I'm assuming the tag on the player disappeared over time. This player is VERY well built with a 6-tube transformer type amp & AM radio built into it. The chassis has been rebuilt, the cartridge has been replaced with a new Sonotone stereo cartridge bridged for mono & the changer has been rebuilt, all adding up to a long life yet!
The wood case is 50's limed oak finish in very nice condition. It has an 8" & 4" set of speakers, is true high fidelity and sounds great. All 4-speeds of the changer work flawlessly. VM IMHO has one of the best changers made out there, one of the easier ones to rebuild with parts available from Gary at thevoiceofmusic... - and without the 4 costly rubbers necessary in the RCA changers. Even more importantly, when the changer shuts down, it automatically places the idler in a rest position taking the pressure off the idler...no flat spots!
This player IS for sale. The Price is firm at $325 & shipping to your destination. I pack to "arrive alive"! Too many shippers suck at packing!
If you have an interest you can message me on this site or e-mail me at seeburgsrock@ yahoo.com - I hope you enjoyed seeing something just a little different from the 50's!
One quick PS: The high pitched whistle you hear in the video is NOT the ARTONE but my fussy Canon camera...sorry!
