Glad to hear I’m not the only lazy garden waterer. It’s my least favorite job between getting eaten alive by mosquitos or just taking too long I usually dont do it. I got spoiled this year we had so much rain, actually too much rain, in spring that I didn’t have to water at all till July.

That tomato soup recipe is one of my favorites too! I canned 11 quarts of it this year.

I absolutely love Passion Flowers. For a special dinner I set out a couple shallow bowls with a large flower floating in the middle and 2 or 3 little floating candles around it. Everyone wanted to know how the flowers floated and what they were. They are stunning and so unusual

Good Morning Kelsey! Sadly, like so many others, we have struggled due to the weather. First it took forever to get enough of a warm up to transplant the seedlings then it went to summer hot. We usually don’t have hard heat until August but it arrived late June and went thru July. So the young plants were under tremendous stress. When August hit uncharacteristically things cooled way down and we were hit with so much rain. It was stormy, wet and colder than normal. Overnight lows this week went down into the 40’s. Things are warming up again for this weekend and next week. I’m not sure what will come for a harvest of tomatoes. The remaining plants are so confused lol. There are very few tomatoes on a total of 36 Amish Paste tomato plants. I have had a few cherry tomatoes but no slicing tomatoes either. I am disappointed after all the effort to start the seeds etc but when I start to become sad I remember that we had other successes and I am grateful for those wins. I will be picking up some jalapeños and pickling cucumbers this Sunday from a local farmer and I think we will take a drive over the mountains next week to the eastern side of Washington. There are lots of farms and buying options for produce next week to get tomatoes. I’m going to shift gears in a big way for next year’s garden and will start preparing to put the garden to bed for this year. I do have a fall crop of peas in and some garlic on order which I’ll get planted in October. I may have some carrots still that will make it but even the zucchini has been a fail and I’m just not sure how that is possible lol. The rest of the garden is done and I’ll get it cleaned out and amended. I’m ready to focus on preserving what I need to preserve even if I need to buy the produce and call it good. I have pondered often this season at how much of a blessing the garden is, but also how humbling it can be as well. Your weekly videos of your garden and the projects that come from it have been such a joy to this Grammy’s heart. Thank you for sharing it with us. The scripture you chose this week is perfect. ☺️ Friend, you are a blessing. Have a wonderful weekend.

Your videos aren't political and we all appreciate that. However if you want to keep your food freedom, vote in this upcoming election for those who will preserve it on your behalf. I am sure you know about the PA Amish farmer who is being persecuted by the government. Let's stop this before it goes any further.

Hello friend… Another heartwarming video! The freeze dryer, wow, you can make dry soups… Just add water to bring them back? You get so much done in a day! Reminds me of me when I was young and newly married… I learned canning from my mother in-law… I am 68 now, so a different time, for sure. Our situation as share croppers, it was essential to keep us fed through the winter, but in hindsight, I wouldn’t have done it any other way. We never went hungry… Today so many young ladies, have no clue how to make it if times get tough. Thank you for inspiring this generation! Hugs from Ohio

You don't have to water every day. You don't want them to get used to that! Every 2 -3 days would be great. Depending on the weather.

Thank you! The music is through a subscription that allows me rights to use in videos. Most artists create for epidemic music only and sell them the rights to use. I’m not sure you could find the exact songs anywhere else without paying for the subscription 🤔

I am new to canning and I have a question. When you say you need 8 lbs of tomatoes, is that before or after coring?
@seedandsparrowhomestead2 ай бұрын
It depends on wording, in this case the recipe states, 8lbs of tomatoes cored and halved. I read that as 8lbs before. If the recipe states 8lbs of cored and halved tomatoes, I read that as after. Hopefully that makes sense?
