This is really well made, you have a good audio setup, and your visuals aren't laggy or too visually busy, I have attention issues & this is good for both watching and listening to, great job with the video man! You also have a good speaking voice and a cool accent it's cool that I we get to learn science from all around the world and from my little slice of earth I just wanted to show you some appreciation for taking the time to make and share this content!

This is helping me a.ot with my studies, but i made a mistake it is not worm temperature but "suitable temperature* . Not all seeds need worm temperature, for some plant grow in exreamly cold environments, the temperature has to be suitable meaning the temperature must be what that type of seed is used to, yes different temperatures can work for example with plants that grow in cold environments they can germinate in worm temperature, after they have adapt to the new environment, which whout cause pause in the germination process, resulting in a slower growth. Also not all seeds can adapt new environmental temperatures. I know in the video you said that not all of them are correct but i just wanted to make a statment to better help other or even yourself. Well thank you again this video help my very much and is deffinetly making my grade 9 agriculture class easier.

Part of this video is incorrect. As a very well known germination process is putting seeds on a damp piece of paper towel, putting it in a ziplock bag, and placing it in the refrigerator. So the 'warm temperature' is also not needed.

Yes but the question is how does seed know when it has to germinate or sprout ,how does it know is has been placed in soil and why dosent it grow in our stomachs
@Science_Sauce
@Science_Sauce Жыл бұрын
When water enters the seed through a part called the micropyle. This allows the chemical reactions to begin. They can’t grow in our stomachs because they don’t have time (they pass through quickly) and stomach acid would prevent growth.

Lovely, thank you very much, but can't we say that oxygen in the water molecule is enough for the seed to germinate?
@Science_Sauce
@Science_Sauce Жыл бұрын
No, the O in H2O is not available as oxygen for respiration. There is dissolved oxygen in water, however, which is available to living organisms (this is how fish “breathe”).

@@Science_Sauce Thank you for your reply and for the great content you make... I just want to know one more thing, I am interested in finding out about the essential elements to the human body with respect to the growth of plants from the seed content until it starts germinating and throughout the growth process, like malting for example, what do you suggest I should go for? Biochemistry? or other courses maybe? and thank you very much for the advice.🤍

3:50 Oxygen? People do soak grass seed in buckets for multiple days, with only pulling them out temporarily to change the water, thus no oxygen. Success is usually seen with a very small root poking out of the seed from this process. Then the seeds are distributed to the soil. This is usually called pre-germination, but may be a misnomer. Video says germination is start of growth, so if that's with the root starting to poking out, then this process proves no oxygen required to that point.
@Science_Sauce
@Science_Sauce Жыл бұрын
Oxygen is essential for germination. Two things to note: the seed can swell and the seed coat will burst as a result of water uptake (even in absence of oxygen) but no growth can occur if oxygen is absent. Second, there is dissolved oxygen in water and so initial growth/germination may occur for some species if immersed in water. The statement that “air is needed for germination” is commonly quoted but not strictly true, though the statement that “oxygen is needed for germination” is true.
@vashon100

@@Science_Sauce Thanks for taking the time to reply. Possibly there is oxygen consumption from the water. I originally tried to imagine that, and didn't think possible.
