Finally we can save those midi setups on the mark II Digitakt. Or so I’ve heard

Anthony, I run an all Elektron live setup. Would love to see more material on how to work with Elektron gear for live performance, or similar content like this on how to effectively integrate with Abelton in a live setting. This is a great usage I hadn't even thought of!

I would say the digitakt is a perfect companion for ableton for it's sampling capabilities during live performances. It's super fast and hands on and the fx are fantastic for mangling, distorting, glitching, etc. I think every live artists should use one in their live sets.

It looks cool! Now we have probabilities… in ableton since live 11. But the Elektron workflow is great

I like Dave Mech's suggestion that you can use the mod wheel, aftertouch page for parameter locks. It's just a little less work to set up on both send and receive devices.

Awesome video! I recently got a Digitakt and have been loving it as a standalone beat making machine, never thought of using it as a MIDI controller. Any chance you'd be able to publish the drum rack? Looking forward to the live performance course!

That particular drum rack is a great for the digitakt. It funtions exactly like assigning the LFO to the sample slot on the digitakt.

Don't forget the Octatrack in this list. Is actually the best sequencer out of all these units. For example 3 LFO per track x 8 tracks. Also LFO designer etc.

Thank you, informative and clear. input steps by 'button with numbers' is not very intuitive, i prefer visual view (grid) of rythm like drums sequencer in reason. For use 'grid trig' system i use push3 and ableton12 which now permit adjust chance and probabilty. Elektron can just be useful for the 8 knob/cc remote for macro, which is a cool thing.

That's really cool. I even went as far as to write a control surface script for it, so the 8 knobs auto map to the 8 parameters of the selected device. But there's a ~15.7ms delay that I absolutely can't get rid of. Whenever I'm recording like this, the midi notes start at 0:0:0.016. Any idea how to fix that?

What is the source for those drum sounds? I know they are coming from the drum rack but where are they from? A seed to stage sample pack? Great video!!

What is that rack you are using? Are you able to cycle through samples with it using the macros?

thanks for the great video. I can get everything to work for the first track, but when I add midi B (2nd midi track) it won't make a sound with the sequencer, but will when I hit the button for a trig in ableton. So strange. I have check all settings and restarted/updated everything. Any ideas?

Hello, very interesting video and channel! Do you know how I could trigger scene changes from DT to Ableton by using pattern changes?
@djericlouis Жыл бұрын
Nice one, however I guess a short fall is that if doing 4/4 house /techno music it's a bit wonky to have different sounds trigger on the same step (in the Digitakt/Digitone that is) for example you have your 4 on the floor kicks. Adding a Clap or SNare on beats 2 & 4 (on top of kick) is't really possible on the same midi track that controls a single drum track. (Yes I know it's possible to have a neighbor note play them and then use nudge)

In the drum rack, each sound is on its own lane according to note value, so it's not a problem.

I have my midi values assigned to the macro knobs, but how are the kick snare clap and hat macros selecting different sounds? Are they macro'd to something within Ableton?

I didn't manage to succesfully set this up with tight clocking. The sound coming from the Digitakt on OB is ok with Live clock, but the MIDI track is late... any idea ? thx

same issue here, did you find any solutions? Also have the audio tracks in sync but midi in ableton is late.

Hi Anthony! Trying this now but I'm facing a problem when pressing "FUNC+NO". So i have the same settings as you in Live's preferences. Also when moving a knob on the macro I can see the knob moving on the Digitakt and vice-versa. The problem here is when I press "FUNC+NO", for some reason the macro knobs are not changing in Live. Can't figure out why.. I though this could be releated to the Takeover Move in Live but i've tested both Value Scaling, None and Pickup Value and still not able to make this work... What am i missing here? For reference I'm using Midi channel 1 and values CC 70 to 79 on the DT. Thanks!
@chr1sdanger Жыл бұрын
He’s doing it with parameter locks here which will send midi messages on their respective trigs to update the Ableton knobs. It may not work without that. I haven’t tested this, just a theory. Did you end up figuring it out?
@OlololololoA40 Жыл бұрын
Same problem, also I noticed that when I press FUNC+NO digitakt time to time sends values of the knobs to 0, but displays correct values, then when I press FUNC+NO again few times - it reload it correctly
@OrangeNash Жыл бұрын
The Digitakt keys didn't used to be velocity sensitive. Have they ever added that? While decent in it's own right, it's awfully expensive for a non-velocity sensitive midi controller! Useful if you want to play live without Ableton. But in the studio, everything it did, could be done easier in the DAW. A bit of a luxury item, maybe, so I sold it 🙂 You could get a Beatstep, Keystep and a couple of synths for the price.

Is it possible to send a pattern from a Ableton pianoroll to a digitakt. I searched the elektronauts forum for information, but did not find anything that worked
@madtho Жыл бұрын
Yes, you can sequence the Digitakt’s sample channels from Live. You can also send program changes to the Digi to change patterns etc.
