Seeing The Destruction First Hand: Walking Through Sanibel Condos

Complete Condo Project to be Demoed - 20 Plus Units Destroyed By Hurricane IAN. On the Sanibel Resort Island Right On The Gulf Of Mexico. There Were Somewhere Around 40 Units @.0 or so ended up on the street. Safe to say a 30 Million Dollar Property.
Walking this Demolition before we start on it to see, first is it safe enough to run our salvage crews on and secondly if there are valuable enough items to have a couple crews come out and carefully remove the items. What I found was countless treasures that we can can repurpose, once we spend the time to remove them before we demolish this whole structure.

In 1972 my parents took us to Sanibel for the first time and we stayed at the then Surfrider Motel. We loved the island and the lodgings so much that we returned every year for another 6 years, until choosing a larger resort closer to the lighthouse. So many fond memories of the Surfrider. It's so sad to see what happened to it and the island in general. Best wishes for a successful and safe demo. Look forward to seeing the replacement but a part of old Florida is lost forever.

Interesting video! I have visited Sanibel many, many times, since the 1960’s. Heartbreaking to see. Amidst, all the destruction, so good to see that you can repurpose items, reuse, give to thrift stores, and sell good items, that others can use 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Any information on the progress/fate of the larger condo complexes? We’ve stayed at the Sundial many times. I know these complexes have many owners and issues to sort out.

Is it really worth all the effort to remove, transport, and store ? To resell . Storage is at a premium if you can find it. Plus you have to market the used goods. How about all the man hours waiting in traffic on and off the island. I know this area well. I used to work on the island. I can't see where this is financially feasible. The doors and windows maybe. But all the used furniture ? You will have more time and effort into it than you will get out of it. Wouldn't you make more money concentrating your efforts on bigger things ? Maybe have a come get it sale in the parking lot one weekend.

See, that is precisely why there's such a huge opportunity in this business. Been repurposing stuff for 17 years and we added this component to our current business model and it makes us fiercely competitive because we can price ourselves better than our competitors. And yes, it's more work, it's green. It's a good thing for everybody. Taking perfectly good stuff to the dump is not. Something that I really you like to do. And it creates more jobs and we pay fairly well and that's it. I mean it, it's a good, it's a good thing. It's exactly the opposite of what other people are doing and typically. That's where you can make money.
