Cognitive scientist, Dr. Donald Hoffman returns to the mind meld!
Donald Hoffman is a professor of cognitive science at UC Irvine who is proposing something radical yet fully backed by scientific rigor -
First, you perceive zero percent of reality. You live in an evolutionarily convenient illusion akin to a computer desktop interface.
Second, what’s truly real underneath that illusion (and all of our scientific models) is a realm of consciousness populated by what Don calls “conscious agents.” The physical world emerges from that realm.
So, despite how the world appears, no matter what happens at the large hadron colder or what we find peering through the James Webb telescope; what all of it really is, at bottom, is consciousness expressing itself.

Humanity may never recognize it, but Hoffman and his team are doing the most important work ever done. His humility and unwavering commitment to the scientific method is astounding. He and his team rank among humanity’s greatest and their achievements to date are perhaps the most important science ever done. In my opinion, that is not hyperbole.

I mean none of this is new. He is just philosophizing and using more scientific terms to describe what they said in Advaita. About the Self and Awareness being primary, and the physical world being Maya or illusion. And that consciousness is projecting it, infinitely. That's what I gather.

The stuff that Hoffman says is contradictory to Buddhism. Sure, there is maya, the great illusion that is reality, but the Buddha also explained the idea that there is non-self or annatman. In terms of Hoffman's vernacular ... Who is the you that is using the space-time reality headset? Answering that question is like the tounge tasting itself, or the eye seeing itself.... (If you really thing about it, these are both impossible, the tongue can't taste itself, it needs something different to taste. The eye might see it's reflection, but that's not an eye, it's a reflection of an eye. )

Yeh its great to hear Hoffman's insight, but the REAL DEEP info is hidden behind their money wall. You got to come as a beggar in the night, with shivering hands dropping your last 30 pieces of silver into their greedy hand to get a limited view into the REAL archive. This is just the tip, according to the guy who host this channel.... Perhaps he needs the money to cut the tale or do foot surgery, getting rid of the cloven hoofs. 📛

Excellent discussion. The second half really gets interesting after Dr Hoffman lays out the supporting math. That's the exciting thing about this guy. He's not shooting from his hip. Yes, however, I'm not sure about his obsession with math. As far as I'm concerned, math is also pretty restricted language... He speaks of one consciousness, but one of the basic math foundational axioms is that you can draw a straight line trough 2 points. Math already presupposes that there are 2 points to draw line through and that it will be straight. Or that you can always draw a straight line in between 2 points.

This just sends me straight into the void. I’ve all been a nihilist since the age of eleven, of course I didn’t know what is nihilism then, but no matter. No matter how I try, I can’t seem to understand this, seemingly pointless act of dying forgetting and coming right back, dying forgetting and coming right back…. Forever and ever and ever. We are all god. We are all bored as hell, apparently, why else do we do this? Trick ourselves with an endless array of avatars for infinity. It’s like haven’t we experienced death and suffering and sorrow and disease and pain and watching as our corpses slowly rot away, and then rush to fetch another? As profound as all of this may be, I AM just tired of doing this, I really am. AND, there’s never any way out, as I am god and this IS what I want to do… It’s exhausting…. I, as god NEED to find another way, to amuse myself….

I am not a scientist but I was blessed with ability to read the informational field via intentional ecological request to aquire truth about any topic. I get chills when Dr. HOFFMAN talking. We observe our reality by creating our personal hologram in 360 degree field screen projected from the inside to the outside in a specific frequency which represents the level of a person and there are 9 levels of consciousness. 7 represent our chakras and 2 above head in our aura. 70% population is on the first level. Only 3% on 4th and rest in between. We all generate our own reality by harvesting energy via DNA structure. And our outside reality is built based on sacred geometry and complicated mathematical formulas involving operators for each specific function used for varios kinds of materialization. Won't go further... most wont get it...

If you can stay in touch with the relationship between the ego and broader states of consciousness (including meta-consciousness) in a flow state of being, intuition can be incredibly powerful. Like you said, it feels right... like beyond a gut feeling.

1:18:47 I am beginning to appreciate Dr. Hoffman’s grievance here, and it is a real one. Dogmatism within religion is deadly and must be stopped at all costs. I come from a religious tradition that says my God’s entire Law hangs on loving my neighbor, because no one who loves one’s neighbor harms them. However, of course I have seen how Christianity has been used to justify stealing, killing, and destroying around the world for potentially thousands of years. How could a religion stray so far from its true purpose? This is a question that keeps Christians up at night, and I’m very thankful that Dr. Hoffman is also wrestling with this problem. Religion evolves. That is what is missing from modern Christian denominations. The Bible describes evolution as “The Mystery of The Two Olive Trees.” Members from the cultivated olive tree are cut off to make room for members from the uncultivated olive tree to be unnaturally grafted on. This process takes place every generation. And there is, in every generation, a hyperreligious, arrogant group of people who resist such evolution. They are the members that get cut off, such as the Pharisees, Saul’s line as king of Israel, the humans who lived during the days of Noah, or Satan and his angels. This event is called “The Repentance of The LORD,” in which God repents of creating certain members of His Body and forcibly removes them by “plucking out and chopping off the member that would lead us to temptation.” In their place, God chooses the foolish things of the world, the weak things, the last things, the things that are not, and the humble things to be unnaturally grafted on to His Body, the cultivated olive tree. This process is called “The Ascension of The Scapegoat.” The Repentance of The LORD is happening today, and those dogmatic religious people Dr. Hoffman is talking about are going to be forcibly removed and replaced by others who will do better than them.

The amplituhedron is so fascinating. To me, it is so eerily similar to the revelations of the 'Big Ring' and 'Giant arc' structures in astronomy/astrophysics. It seems we keep finding these "pointers" as you say. The harder we dig into the sciences, the more we keep finding these things that defy any understanding we thought we had about our reality, almost a wink and a nod from the universe. Especially as Dr. Hoffman says it perpetuates new theories and new understandings of the thing that is life, spacetime, the machine, etc. We think we know, and the mother laughs!

I have the idea that the way physicists are approaching their comprehension of the world is not right, finding a theory of everything is like going with a car inside a lake, the car works for a road, you need a boat to navigate a lake. The analogy is to theories breaking down in singularity or consciousness. We need new math, new theories and new experiments.

Thank you very much for this deep, heartfelt and pertinent interview, from beginning to the very end. Looking forward to the next one with this -I couldn't agree more- unparalleled genius. I'm so glad (and I feel grateful) that Donald Hoffman is part of the active scientific world today. Also, hopefully, interviews such as this one, will contribute to speeding up the process of appreciating/seriously considering/validating his concrete theory (and others coming from other wise people) during our lifetime --and not only becoming a scientific legacy after 100 years the theory had been postulated! (as it is almost always the case with breakthroughs -very especially- in the scientific world, unfortunately). Thank you so much again

Consciousness is the most advanced microscope in the universe. The human DNA, the human state of being is the most advanced technology we have up to this point. Look within, the knowledge of all the Universe is found through meditation. All manifestation is created through faith in any particular thing. We are the creators of our holographic reality. But our reality will never escape the limits of our faith in a potential.

What's new is the mathematization involved. Kant formulated this in his Critique of Pure Reason 1789'ish. " Space & Time are empirically real but transcendentally Ideal' .. meaning we experience through our senses, but the source of these constructs are from the mind's processing. Bernado Kastrup is another analytical idealist with much the same viewpoint. Even Einstein said ' as soon as an object's energy is low enough to be perceived by the senses, we call it matter. there is no matter; he read Kant.

Fear is only for you and your experience. You will create fear from nothing, when you're in danger youve placed yourself into a new situation which you uncertainty pervades reality. You can only overcome fear by avoiding the unknown.
@trevcorbett6161
@trevcorbett6161 5 ай бұрын
... one only fears the unknown if one has not mastered control over the lower instincts with reasoning and choice. It's about perspective. Nothing is truely known, as can be seen in trying to define reality & consciousness. Knowing is an assumption belief theory only. Theories are not truth, they are opinions only. One can understand this concept that nothing is truely known and live/understand accordingly, that the true state of being is a continual state of continuous change, and therefore choose to live with enthusiasm and opportunity rather than fear.

We often hear of the hard problem of consciousness. Why is there qualia or experience of anything in the first place? I would submit there is an even harder and more important question - why do I seem to be a specific individual experiencing a specific subset of qualia? If material reductionism is to be relevant to the big questions, then it has to explain not how brains generate consciousness but how the specific brain in my head could create the specific consciousness I seem to be looking out of the eyeballs of this specific body. Why do I PERSONNALLY EXIST as an individual in the first place? Out of the infinite matter in the universe how is it that only the three pounds in my head could create me? What is different about that three pounds for this to occur? Consider that billions of bodies showed up before this one. Billions showed up after this one. None of them seem to have created my existence. This body could be running around without it being ME just like these billions of others All bodies are made of the same elements. All brains have the same basic anatomy. If all brains are basically the same and are creating consciousness then there should only be ONE consciousness staring out of every set of eyeballs simultaneously. A hopelessly superimposed existence from every possible viewpoint at once. I’m sure that materialists would claim that no, no, brains are so complex they are all different. Ok, so what would have to be recreated in another brain for me to exist staring out of another set of eyeballs? If an exact copy of my body was created in antarctica would I find myself to exist there freezing my butt off while also sitting in the comfort my living room? According to the physicalists that would have to be true or their argument collapses into incoherence. Then in a random universe where things statistically reoccur why couldn’t I exist again or even in more then one place at a time? Why do the physicalists so adamantly insist that an individualized consciousness could only exist once? How could pure awareness even be individualized? Physicalists demand measurements but with consciousness there is nothing to measure. There is electricity in the brain they say. We’ll measure that. Is electricity consciousness? If so then once I again I should exist everywhere at once since electricity cannot be individualized. My blender uses electricity. Is it a genius? Unless materialists can answer these questions their premise collapses like the house of cards it is. As far as other ways of thought are concerned only Dualism and Idealism can account for our sense of individuality. Dualism assumes we are all individual spirits/souls matched up to a body through some undefined process. Idealism, which states that consciousness is primary also answers the question of why I seem to exist as an individual. One consciousness exists looking out of every set of eyeballs and in the process the illusion of individuality is created in each case. I am you, you are me, we are one.

Material reductionism cant even define consciousness, let alone provide a theory that explains how to get individual aware subjects (i.e. consciousness) from a combination of unconscious objects (i.e. atoms, molecules; baryonic matter). The question remains!

We are all one there is no time, consciousness is not subject to the constraints or space time. In deep meditation I can reach to other worlds and other entities and reach into their mind see what they see. If not for my connection to this body I feel that I will eventually experience all that can be experienced though every vessel for eternity. This is why it is so imperative to love one another and show understanding to never judge and only guide those who are searching

We take in and it is with in us individually and collectively, Consciousness is like sound all around us, like we take in light…then construct space time reality from light, sound, taste, pressure…the lasting of this experience held in memory influenced by learning from others intersections (history) which at this time leads to bias’ about space time…what we seem to be pre-occupied with… Seeing all of us as expressed Consciousness being fundamental says a lot about this place, your individual or collective experience, that space time just can’t hold.

We must leave our humanity behind. We are essentially just animals with a lot more capable weapons until we break free of the human condition. Our thoughts lie to us, our feelings misguide us, our perceptions are built around survival and what that basically entails, a short leash to base our subjective reality on. History repeats ad infinitum because we can't move on past our baseness.
