It makes me cry too. I try to sing along proudly but my voice always breaks from being so choked up from emotion. It acknowledges the custodians of our great southern land as being the first Australians, it acknowledges the convicts from my ancestors and is all inclusive for every person in Australia. Definitely should be our national anthem.

Well done - you are one of the over 70% of fellow Aussies that made our indigenous feel like second class citizens in their own country. Go and do some nursing in the outback, as I have, and you would see that our indigenous are not treated the same as every other person. I called the coppers 20 years ago for an indigenous lady that was being sexually assaulted in real time in my back lane in Kalgoorlie - the coppers didn't even COME!! So, do you still think we are all the same? My sister worked in family and children's service and her stories are more gut churning than my nursing stories. The voice wasn't about wokeness. Why do you think that the aged pension is released for indigenous 10 years before us whites?? If we are all the same then why is their life expectancy at least a decade less than ours?? You should have done some actual research before you closed your mind.

I think the differences between our two nations are that the US values are religious beliefs, reverence for the military and veterans, respect given to power and wealth. If a foreigner wants to know what Australians see as being important and valuable about their culture and themselves, they can listen carefully to each of the verses of that song. Each verse expresses a founding myth that Australians cherish at a spiritual level. The way that the chorus then draws on those founding myths to celebrate Australia's inclusiveness, equality and hopefulness for the future is enough to make the hardest Australian get a tear in the eye

I think MIchele needs to listen to the song again. And again. And probably again.

I'm Australian, too and it breaks my 💔 at what the government is doing to destroy it. We must come together and get our beautiful country back at all costs, or will lose her. 🙏💖🇦🇺🙏

I haven't heard from them for many years but this brought tears to my eyes. Currently, I'm 66 years old , English, and so pleased to hear their talent again. Beautiful

Amazing. After 50 years they still sound remarkable. The Seekers are the best musical group I've heard in my 70 years.

As a 74yo yank, I have heard these voices for years, but I have never heard this song before. So beautiful, so moving, so poignant.

This is something I like about Australia, they do consider themselves Australians, in America you have, Italian Americans, Mexican Americans, African Americans in Australia you have Australians end of, brilliant, I have Australian relatives and have visited over 13 times with my husband, and although we are Brits and like our home we do love the hospitality of Australians. Thank you for this lovely song, true spirit of Australia.

Don’t worry, I’m ashamed to say they are trying their level best to change that. Patriotism inspires one to fight for what you have and the powers that be don’t want you inspired to do anything but spend your money and live in soft obeisance.

I beg to differ. There is nothing wrong with being proud of your cultural heritage. I consider myself Australian of Hungarian Jewish heritage. It is ok to be both.

Their voices are indistinguishable from the 1994 performance in which I first became aware of this wonderful song. The Seekers were truly bringers of joy!
