The Vampiress was (unsurprisingly) my favorite character in this game - but not because of any game play advantage. I actually love her random voice lines about ancient battles or long-forgotten kings she used to know. It's one of the few "ancient vampire" characters in a video game I think actually "feels" ancient, and not because of her powers, but just because of her general attitude towards the world and the people in it - every time she meets a new person or enters a new area, she's like: "Oh, this reminds me of that time, long ago..." I was super bummed that they didn't include the Vampiress in any of the sequels.

There is no "town portal", but there are two disconnected portal networks: Big portals near major towns or important places that let you teleport to any other of them once activated... and smaller ones that appear in pairs. For those you need a dedicated portal rune. Usually after beating a main quest or finding a seacret area, there will be a small prtal nearby to be activated by the drop from an enemy. I spend quite some time trying to activate most of the small portals and i found some rather surprising connections.

I remember finding Sacred in a 1 dollar pile of games in a store. I installed it expecting nothing and I got something epic :p Yeah Sacred is clunky as hell but it's seriously awesome. And yet it's something most people have never heard of. PS: The first thing I did when firing up the game was to just wander the world which ended me up at some huge dragon in a hidden clearing in some random woods. I snuck in and grabbed some stuff. The dragon felt like end game stuff but the mere fact that you could basicly get there instantly just shows you how open the game is.

Ok, so to unwrap a couple of things: 1. Runes are random, but the Combat Arts master can exchange any 4 runes into one choosen by you (or you can gamble, giving him any 3 runes to get a random rune for your class) 2. Combinations have separate cooldowns from Spells/CombatArts, and they can be used to either spam a long-cooldown ability 4 times in a quick succession, with a larger cooldown in between; stash a pre-prepared buff routine, or create a combo, like for example multi-shot and self-guided arrows for the oh-so-hated-by-you wood elf. Each class has it's own uses for the mechanic. 3. The dial, that you have no idea what it does is in fact a MainQuest pointer, with smaller arrows pointing you to the direction of side-quests.
@Sway22 Жыл бұрын

@@seer6251 Ye , havent checked the game in years , but it was similar to how upping gems in Diablo works . 3 Runes and gold for a rando rune of your class , 4 runes and more gold for a rune of your choice from your class , and if i remmeber correct , 2 runes and a bit of gold for basically a rerloll from the pool. SO thats what you do , with all the runes game is throwing at ya, reroll them for your runes. Also bot Sacred and Sacred 2 had this wierd balance , where you didnt want to lvl the basic skill with runes by eating much , it was much more efficiently to get the lvl ups from putting the runes in gear - mostly cause the cooldowns get ridiculous. For instance aah , lets say a basic combo like attack (evry class has a combat rune with a 3-4 multi hit skill) , you basically eat one rune to get 1 lvl in the skill , then have it in all your gear slots for + 10 or more , cuz the % gaisn from gear are the same if u had eaten 10 runes , but the Cooldown stays like 2 secs for like lvl 1 , with the stats of lvl 10 skill. TLDR - Eat minimal lvls of runse to keep skills at your comfortable cooldowns , get the other skill levels by putting them into hte gear. ITs absolutely weird but, once it clicks - ALSO skills have one global cooldown for all , combos have another, so 2 skills and 2 combos for tougher enemies is my go to , with spamming single skills and the combo on diff cooldowns , there were also i think it was concentration , that lvlv that stat lowers cooldowns. Shiiii.. that T:DR turned longer , but yea the game has veeery different rules from other Arpgs but once you figure the system out (Works with slight tweaks for Sacred 2 aswell- tbh S2 is a more polished in the skill systems dept), its amazing. The best thing of all is - as you said it is highly customizable - unless going full meta min max , you can make a looot of things work decently . So ya , eat minimum nr of runes , have 2-3 single skills on very low cds in the skill bar , and 1-2 good combos of those skills for tougher guys or crowds, put all your runes in the gear to get all the positives without the negatives, rune guy in town is your best friend. Fuk that was long , why did I even bother with the tdlr.....

Combosystem has a use beside getting a skill copy with seperate cooldown. As the Woodelf for example you could combo multishot with homing shot and piercing shot to get a multi homing piercing shot that swooshes over the battlefield like a swarm of that guided arrow weapon in guardians of the galaxy. Shoot at a single dragon for example and you have a bunch of arrows spread out from your bow, home in on the target, pierce through, curve arround and come back for another homed in piercing attack, repeating until the current cap of your piercing skill was reached.

I played this as a kid on every holidays because we would go to my aunt and my cousin had Sacred on his old computer xD I rly enjoyed it even tho I was sooo bad at it. I didn't understand english so the quests made no sense to me I would just go to the marker and figure it out. I also don't believe that I ever made it further then the first two cities and then the desert where I died... a lot. You would ask why go to the desert if the main quest is taking you somewhere else... well I didn't know that. And also I always tried to get to the island in the bottom left of the map. The one with the volcano. It was my only goal xD I don't know why, I guess I just rly wanted to know what's there.... I never made it ;) Now a couple weeks ago I bough the game and decided to finally play it and finish it. The first thing is that I can't believe how big the map actually is. This thing is huge! I would have never explored it all as a kid xD Also there are some quests that give you time limit and I wouldn't have known that back then sooo I would def fail them. The story line is cool, the quests usualy require you to go for something or escort someone somewhere or fight something, which is not a lot but I still did find it fun. There are hidden places with interesting things which always gives me joy when I find them. The voice acting is tragic and some enemies are sooo anoying with stuns and spells that keep you in place. I didn't encounter many bugs yet except for the one with the one quest in the desert that buggs 4 other quests :/ which I can't believe the creators didn't fix by now. I don't know when I will finish it since I decided that I will uncover every black fragment of the map... which takes a looong time. Overall I do enjoy the game wayyy more then I thought I will which is a big plus.

For me, the dwarf always was where it’s at. With the flamethrower killing mobs in hordes with one cast and the mortar being able to strike bosses from behind terrain cover, the best thing about the dwarf is that he has a special smithing skill that allows you to smith +x% rare item drop chance into EVERY slot making him the go-to class for farming them legendaries and set items. Also, you’ve noted 2 things already: quest reward are random and you can save and reload. Put those two together and with a bit of patience you can reset for any set item you want as early as the first town

My advice, for sacred 1 and 2 I would recommend getting the community patches, you do have the option to trade four runes for one of your choice at combo masters (the game never tells you this and I only found out about that in the second game and realized you can do in one too) but be careful because higher rune levels have longer cooldowns which can be lowered through specific stats, points the relevant skills, lighter armor (armor has regen penalties but armor skills also reduce the penalties), so it's a balancing act between ability levels and your character's ability to use them

I LOVE this game. And no I did not skip quests. Or any monsters, I cleared the whole map and killed absolutely everything. You only need one class, and that's (I'm a) Battle Mage, and you only need one skill, and that's Gust of Wind. They should call it GOAT of Wind.

Try Sacred Reborn mod, overhauls and "fixes" a lot of things, including making the game run, buying runes, town portal, making complete useless skills useful and lot of stats balancing. I have played original a lot during my years, even before the expansion (it was even more weird) but this mod was a gamechanger. I think with this mod people that were alienated by how dated and lackluster thins are can actually enjoy it.

Aaahh Sacred. I have very interesting memories of this game. You see, I've been playing arpgs thanks to my uncle, who taught me hoy to play Diablo II when I was like 6 years old. Years past and afromentioned uncle went to live in Italy. Some other years past and the same uncle came back with some games for me to play, and between those games was Sacred. I was really interested because hey, a new (for me at least) arpg, cool. But it had a small problem: the game was in Italian. As a native Spanish speaker I could understand some words but in general it was very confusing, but the thing I remember the most is that the voice of the battle mage sounded so fucking smug I loved it. And also the seraphim was nice.

I loved this game back then. I remember savescumming dragons to "pick" loot (quicksaving a second before I struck the final blow). The hilarious goblin noises are still stuck in my head to this day.🤣

Yes, quest rewards are random BUT you can save the game before retrieving the quest and if you don't like what you get you can just load the game and get a different reward. Also, the longer you go without dying the more chances you get on legendary rewards, at some point you can use the save/load exploit to just get always green gear. And to get the Combat Arts you want all you have to do is talk to the combo master (the wizard dude in almost every town) and you can exchange 4 random combat arts for any of your choice.

You're not entirely reliant on luck to get the skills you want. Three random skills can be exchanged for one particular skill from the skill wizard. You first meet him in the second town (I forget the name it's been years).

Haven't played in a good 10 years, but i remember abusing the couple of free runes you get at the start a million times until i had a character with very high level skills that took literal hours to recharge without a potion, then using that to 1 shot a dragon which would respawn until i was pretty OP

The game has the mechanics of exchanging runes of other classes for runes of your own class. Three "not your" runes for a random one, and four - for any of your choice. So there is no problem with pumping the necessary skill.
@tahrakgaming1554 Жыл бұрын
If you're REALLY looking for something broken when you play it... Try the battlemage using the chain lightning ability.. But change all your runes you find into it and stack the spell. You'll 1 shot everything on the screen. You'll feel like a god. As an ARPG should make you feel! Also quest rewards are random so if you're a sweaty try hard just do a quick save before turning in a quest and you can have a full set in just a spam of quick game loads.

I loved this game. And it has so many silly thinks. Like... The Jump skill from the Dark Elf let's you jump over rivers, leading to massive shortcuts, hidden areas or just cheesing dungeons. And then there is a hidden passage directly through a certain forst where the trees have no collision to reach an easteregg.

Tbh every time i play this game i discover some weird ass interaction between skills and stuff. This last one been the weird revive/convert mechanics from the Awaken Undead Vampiress skill. Zombie apocalipse go brrrrrr. That aside, i always loved the setting, managing to be spooky and dark while keeping a sense of humor, the character voicelines, and the open world always out there to see. Finally, for anyone wanting to replay this game with a new coat, the Reborn mod adds a bunch of quality features, allows changing keybinds and resolution, and does some rebalancing, thou it must be said it does change how some abilities work (mostly for the better with buts). Now to continue to pray to the gods that devise the actions of THQNordic so they make a damn remake.

There is definitely randomness to drops, but the game skews the drops to the class you play. You will get drops for other classes, but most of the things will be something you can use. Runes that give you skills - you also have some control over them - you go to the rune master (the wizard looking dude in every major settlement) and he can exchange any 4 runes to 1 for your class of your choosing. So yeah, you can always get the skills you want. That said - the number of runes dropped is not random - the more you have in your pack and the more you have "eaten" - the less will drop. So the game encourages you to frequently clean your inventory of unnecessary runes and to NOT eat too many. Besides - eating to many runes may mess you up - because level of a skill increases... but so does the cooldown. So that previously spammable fireball may be turned into a one-shot-kill nuke with half an hour recharge quite easily. But that brings to one major gripe I personally have with Sacred. You can screw your build, and quite easily so. Because a lot of stuff is not exactly self explanatory, especially when it comes to stat distribution and chosen passive skills. And there is no respec. You leveled up concentration on a vampiress, not knowing that this skill does not apply at all when she is in vampire form? Tough shit. You leveled up hellpower and medidation on daemoness only to notice that her forms are not considered spells? Sucks to be you. Leveled all the spell-buffing skills for Seraphim only to notice that the BFG you were using this entire time is considered a combat skill? Oh well... That is one of those games where I'd say character editor mod is kind of mandatory.

Man this game. Have played it again recently and figured out that one set from the Dark Elf gives you permanent waterform for some reason, aka. permanent invisibility. On top of that, there are some legendary ICON set items that, if you collect them all, will give your character a fire trail. In other words. You are invisible, but can do damage. Its sooo janky, but thats part of the fun and charm of it.

I had great time with the game. I remember there was some way to buy skill runes... But sadly i can't remember the details. Also, the demoness is extremely powerful. She has a flying mode where you run faster and you can FLY over obstacles like a river. That big forest with a river where a dragon is hiding? You don't need bridges anymore. And her fire mode/stance/form was incredibly OP. There was one other form i used for enemies resistant to fire (maybe some dragons were?) but i can't remember which one. The physical damage form i think sucked, but it was so long ago.
